Is Obama Responsible For The High Gas Prices?

President Obama told us, while on the campaign trail in 2007, that he preferred a gradual hike in gas prices.

Again, in 2008 then candidate Obama told a crowd he could see gas at 12 dollars a gallon. As an example he used something that sounds remarkably familar. Candidate Obama told the crowd, “If Iran decided to shut down the petroleum-rich Strait of Hormuz tomorrow, they believe oil would skyrocket to $300-a-barrel in minutes, a price that one speculator predicted would result in $12-a-gallon gas. $12 a gallon.”

And his energy secretary Steven Chu is on the record as having said, “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” Both President Obama and his secretary want these higher fuel prices to encourage people to alternative fuels like solar energy and battery powered cars. During the 2008 campaign President Obama even warned us, “under my plan electricity rates will necessarily have to skyrocket.” Will have to skyrocket? Does this sound like a plan to rebuild America’s economy? It does help explain decisions like Obama’s moratorium on oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and the Keystone pipeline. When they blame the situation in Iran on these rising gas prices just remember that due to sanctions, the United States does not import oil from Iran. Obama wants us to use alternative fuels, and he is willing to bring down the U.S. economy doing it.

Mitt Romney Loves Cars, Trees, Lakes And Maybe Lamps

Mitt Romney was talking to group in Michigan and started sounding a little like something out of the movie ‘The Anchorman.’ Romney told the crowd during a touching moment, “I was born and raised here. I love this state. It seems right here. The trees are the right height. I like seeing the lakes. I love the lakes. Just something very special here. The Great Lakes but also all the little inland lakes that dot the parts of Michigan. I love cars. I grew up totally in love with cars. It used to be, in the ’50s and ’60s, if you showed me one square foot of almost any part of a car, I could tell you what brand it was, the model and so forth. Now, with all the Japanese cars, I’m not quite so good at it, but I still know the American cars pretty well. And, drive a Mustang. I love cars. I love American cars, and long may they rule the world, let me tell you.”

Here is Romney in Michigan talking about L.O.V.E.;

Or is this Mitt Romney in earlier time?

Rick Santorum Says President Obama Has A Different World View Than The Rest Of Us

Rick Santorum was a guest on ‘Face The Nation’ with Bob Schieffer yesterday to talk about the campaign. Schieffer asked Sanotorum about his latest comment on President Obama’s “theology.” Santorum had said the President was motivated by “some phony ideal, some phony theology.” “I wasn’t suggesting the president’s not a Christian,” Santorum said. “I accept the fact that the president is a Christian. I just said that when you have a worldview that elevates the Earth above man and says that we can’t take those resources because we’re going to harm the Earth; by things that frankly are just not scientifically proven, for example, the politicization of the whole global warming debate – this is all an attempt to, you know, to centralize power and to give more power to the government. It’s not questioning the president’s beliefs in Christianity. I’m talking about the belief that man should be in charge of the Earth and have dominion over it and should be good stewards of it. Santorum said he believed that President Obama was a christian, but he was, “talking about his(Obama’s) worldview or the way he approaches problems in this country and I think they’re different than how most people do in America.”

GOP Weekly Address 2/18/1012

In the Republican weekly address, House Republican Conference Vice-Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) slams President Obama’s budget. “Instead of leading the effort to bring down our debt and make tough choices, the president is proposing that we spend more and more,” she said. “All of his wasteful spending puts us deeper in debt to China. All of his tax hikes would destroy jobs and make it tougher to compete with China. If we keep on going like this, the consequences will be devastating. As we’ve learned from Greece and the European Union, no country can escape the cost of big government policies forever. The president’s budget isn’t a blueprint for America. It’s a roadmap to Greece.”

Rick Santorum Is Proud Of His Earmarks

Mitt Romney has one of those mud slinging ads that Rick Santorum was warning us about. According to the ad, “America is drowning in national debt, yet Rick Santorum supported billions in earmarks.” The ad then shows Santorum saying he was proud of his earmarks. Romney is then shown with a stark contrast of ideas.

Tim Geithner Doesn’t Have A Solution But Knows He Doesn’t Like The Republican Plan

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan were talking about the debt today and Geithner said they don’t have a solution for any long-term problems of the debt. Ryan said, “Here’s the point, if you’ll allow me. This is your time, so we’ll just take a long time. Here’s the point. Leaders are supposed to fix problems. We have a $99.4 trillion unfunded liability. Our government is making promises to Americans that it has no way of accounting for them. And so you’re saying yeah, we’re stabilizing it but we’re not fixing it in the long run. That means we’re just going to keep lying to people. We’re going to keep all these empty promises going.” He added, “you’re showing that you have no plan to get this debt under control. You’re saying we’ll stabilize it but then it’s just going to shoot back up. So my argument is, that’s Europe. That is bringing us toward a European debt crisis because we’re showing the world, the credit market’s future seniors — people who are organizing their lives around the promises that are being made to them today — that we don’t have a plan to make good on this.” Geithner said, “Mr. Chairman, as I said, maybe we’re not disagreeing in a sense.” After a few more quick questions Geithner admitted, “That’s right. We have millions of Americans retiring everyday, and that will drive substantial further rise in the growth of healthcare costs. We’re not coming before you to say we have a definitive solution to our long-term problem. What we do know is we don’t like yours.” No real reason, he just doesn’t like it.
