The Candidates Reflect On 9/11

On September 11, 2001, we saw the worst of our enemies, but we saw the best of us.
In a time of utter chaos and despair, Americans of all walks of life united under our flag for the cause of caring for one another and our country.
Although we shall never forget the loss of precious life on that Tuesday morning, terrorists did not and will never win, for the spirit of America- the triumphant spirit that has sustained us for more than two centuries- was reaffirmed, even in our darkest hour.
As long as we are prosperous and as long as we are free, America will remain the envy of the world. That’s why, ten years later, we must answer the high moral call for defending this great nation for Her preservation for generations to come.
In honor of the fallen and those who continue to sacrifice for our sake, may we be ever mindful of the goodness of our people, our resiliency through trials and God’s continued grace upon this land.
Herman Cain

Today we pause to pray for the families and to remember the victims of 9/11. Ten years ago today, at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on Flight 93, we witnessed terrible tragedy and remarkable bravery. For those who survived the attacks and for those who lost loved ones, I pray that you will experience God’s comfort today. For those first responders and everyday heroes who displayed tremendous bravery and self-sacrifice by putting their lives on the line to save others, and for our men and women in uniform who took the War on Terror to the terrorists, I hope that today you will know the deep gratitude of a thankful nation.
“We shared the horror of that day together as a nation. The events shook our country and our reality. Yet our enemies were mistaken when they imagined weakness in our country. This past decade has proven that an attack on one is an attack on all and the American spirit has prevailed. God has graciously blessed our land with courage, strength, and freedom, and I hope you will join me in praying that he will continue to bless the United States of America.”
Michele Bachmann

Today’s solemn anniversary is an opportunity to remember the many lives cut short by evil on that day and reflect upon the selfless courage of all those who responded to the attack on our country. We remember our brave firefighters, police, and other first responders. We remember the passengers of Flight 93. And we remember the men and women of our Armed Forces who continue the work of defending America. We are a heroic people. And while much work still remains to defeat the evil that attacked us that day, the American spirit remains strong, resilient, and determined to ensure the light of liberty is never extinguished, but grows brighter every day. God bless America.
Newt Gingrich

On this 10th anniversary of 9/11, we cherish the bright memories of the fallen, and keep our hearts open to the loved ones they left behind.
Mitt Romney

As we mark the 10th anniversary of the despicable acts of violence against thousands of innocent Americans, we more importantly remember the heroism found in the American spirit on this day a decade ago. We saw heroism in the firefighters and police officers who bravely entered the Twin Towers never to return to their families again; we saw herosim in the men and women aboard Flight 93 who struck the first counterattack for freedom; and we saw heroism in the families who have continued on without loved ones they never expected to lose forever.
As a nation we came together to confront the evil that attacked us that sunny September morning, but we must remain united and vigilant against the threat that still looms, seeking to destroy us not for what we have done but for who we are as a people.
Today my prayers are with the families of the men and women, police officers and firefighters who lost their lives 10 years ago and those who continue to heal from the wounds of a decade ago. And as we honor this day and the events that changed our country forever, may we remain steadfast in our commitment to defeating those who stand in such defiance of what it means to be an American.
Rick Santorum

On this 10th anniversary of 9/11, I still feel great sadness for those who perished and their families, anger toward the terrorist thugs who murdered them, and anger toward those in our government who have shamelessly exploited the victims’ memory for their own nefarious ends.
Considering this, the phrase “never forget” should apply to every aspect of remembering 9/11.
We should never forget the victims, first and foremost. Their tragic loss was one of America’s greatest losses and they can never be replaced. Our prayers should go out to their families, today and every day.
We should never forget that we will always have enemies in the world who want to harm us. Against any viable threat, we must always stand vigilant.
We should never forget those in our government who used the worst terrorist attack in our nation’s history as an excuse to launch completely unrelated wars, to do unprecedented damage to Americans’ historic liberties, to run roughshod over the Constitution, and to betray the Founders’ vision by savaging some of our most deeply held values.
The last decade has been a tragic one in countless ways. Few if any Americans would like to see it repeated.
On this 10th anniversary of 9/11 and every anniversary—never forget.
Ron Paul

As we all pause this weekend to remember the events of September 11, 2001, our thoughts are with those who lost their lives, those who saved so many lives, and a nation that showed its greatness in countless ways. 9/11 and the days after were a time when ordinary Americans did extraordinary things. Our thoughts and our gratitude are also with the amazing men and women of our military who are putting themselves on the line every day to keep us safe. The fight against those who would do us harm continues today, and it is a fight we must carry out with the same determination that was so magnificently displayed by the heroes of 9/11.
America is about liberty. Ten years ago, liberty was attacked. To those who lost their lives and those many more whose lives were forever changed, our deep obligation is to insure that liberty prevails not just today, but for generations to come.
Gary Johnson

Today, as every day, we remember and mourn our murdered fellow Americans; we pray with and for and support their loved ones who bear the ache of unfathomable loss; and, we reaffirm our devotion to the moral imperatives of defeating terrorism, defending life and advancing freedom.

Pass The Bill Before It Is Even Written

Valerie Jarrett, White House senior adviser, was on Rachel Maddow’s show parroting President Obama by saying, “Congress should pass this plan, and they should do it right this minute.” Yet a minute later she implies the President doesn’t even have a plan yet. “The President is going to draft the legislation, make the job a little easier for Congress and send it up there next week,” Jarrett told Maddow. Next week? Pass the bill right now?

The reel also includes some of his actions against the Mormon church. Here is almost 6 minutes of “Fred who” news clips arranged by film maker John Keitel to help us learn a little bit more about Karger.
