Ron Paul On The Super Congress

Ron Paul (R-TX) was on FOX Business Network’s (FBN) with Lou Dobbs talking about the debt deal just reached. Paul explains why it was easy no vote for him saying, “You don’t get out of the problem of having too much debt by allowing Congress to spend a lot more. It never made any sense to me; it just digs the hole much deeper and then it gets harder for us to get out. It was a very easy vote for me but it became much easier when I saw the vehicle they were using to create this super Congress. Where in the world did that come from and where is that going to lead to? That is monstrous. I keep looking and looking, and I can’t find any place in the Constitution where we have the authority to create such a creature as the super Congress.”

Palin And Bachmann Not Happy About Being Called Terrorist

Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin are both unhappy that Vice-President Joe Biden called the Tea Party a bunch of terrorists during a closed door meeting with of Senate Democrats. According to sources inside, Representative Mike Doyle (D-Penn) said, “We have negotiated with terrorists. This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money.” Biden, not wanting to be left out, spoke up as well and said, “They have acted like terrorists.” They being the Tea Party. Bachmann sent a letter to supporters asking them to “Tell Biden: Tea Party Americans are not terrorist.” According to Bachmann in her letter,

“Only in the bizarro world of Washington is fiscal responsibility sometimes defined as terrorism.

Our belief that America should live within its means and not spend more than it takes in distinguishes us as patriots who love our country, not to be equated with the terrorists whose sole aim is to destroy it.

As reported by Politico, Vice President Biden seemed to compare Tea Partiers to terrorists. As Politico put it: “‘driven by his Democratic allies’ misgivings about the debt-limit deal, [Biden] responded: ‘They have acted like terrorists,’ according to several sources in the room.” If these reports are true, Joe Biden should be ashamed of himself. He should apologize to the families of all victims of terrorism in America and around the world.

According to Politico, in that same meeting a Democratic congressman referred to the “slash and burn lunacy” adding, “the arsonists must be stopped.”

Sarah Palin appeared on Fox News to discuss her disgust with Biden’s comments, saying she was appalled. “We’re getting kinda used to being called names. Racists and inciters of violence, and being accused of things that we have nothing to do with. But, I suppose it is a bit more appalling to have been called acting like terrorists by he who is second in command of the most powerful office in the world. It’s quite appalling and certainly proves how out of touch this White House is when it comes to realizing what the silent majority of Americans are seeing and feeling… To being called terrorists by the Vice President is quite appalling. It’s quite vile,” Palin told Fox News.

President Obama Lays Out The Agreement He Reached With Congressional Leaders

President Obama explains how he reached an agreement with congressional leaders on the debt deal. A deal was reached due to his great stewardship.
This is what the deal does according to President Obama;

Removes economic uncertainty surrounding the debt limit at a critical time and prevents either party from using a failure to meet our obligations for political gain.

Makes a significant down payment to reduce the deficit — finding savings in defense and domestic spending while protecting critical investments in education and job creation.

Creates a bipartisan commission to find a balanced approach to continue this progress on deficit reduction.

Establishes an incentive for both sides to compromise on historic deficit reduction while protecting Social Security, Medicare beneficiaries, and programs that help low-income families.

Follows through on President Obama’s commitment to shared sacrifice by making sure that the middle class, seniors, and those who are most vulnerable do not shoulder the burden of reducing the deficit. As the process moves forward, the President will continue to insist that the wealthiest Americans share the burden.

Burning Down The House With Marco Rubio

Senator Marco Rubio (D-FL) speaks on the floor yesterday. Rubio said, “I would love nothing more than compromise. But I would say to you that compromise that’s not a solution is a waste of time. If my house was on fire, I can’t compromise about which part of the house I’m going to save. You save the whole house or it will all burn down. We either save this country or we do not, and to save it, we must seek solutions.”
