Congresswoman Renee Ellmers, republican from North Carolina, delivers this week’s Republican address from the House Small Business Committee. From the House Conference; “American job creators continue to voice their concerns about our fragile economic recovery which is prohibiting job growth. We know the president’s “stimulus” package failed to create jobs, and additional reckless spending is not the answer. The House Republican Plan for America’s Job Creators will reduce job-crushing regulations, expand domestic energy production, and bring certainty back to small businesses in America. Gary Johnson Shares His Ideas To Jump Start The Economy

Gary Johnson was a guest on Neil Cavuto and discussed his plans to get this economy going. Including getting rid of the IRS and instead impose a consumption tax which is fairer. Cavuto said Johnson is like the Rodney Dangerfield of the GOP field since he gets no respect from the MSM. He wasn’t even invited to the GOP debate that was on CNN. He has been accused of being a social liberal since he wants to legalize marijuana and he respects a woman’s right to choose. Johnson responds to these charges by saying, “the best government is the government that rules the least.”

CBO Director Says Obama’s Budget Plan Is Little More Than A Speech

Representative Paul Ryan asked for some background on the President’s budget plan from CBO director Doug Elmendorf today at the House Budget Committee. President Obama submitted his budget on February 15th. On April 13th President Obama touted his budget proposal at a speech at George Washington University. He called it a Pathway to Prosperity and spoke of deficit reduction, but he never submitted another proposal since the first one in February. Elmendorf replied to Ryan that they “don’t estimate speeches,” instead they need more substance to work with. It would appear that President Obama has done nothing more than release talking points instead of submitting a real budget proposal. Sort of like voting ‘present.’

Mitt Romney Says President Obama Is Right

Mitt Romney has released a new ad that claims President Obama is right. From the Romney campaign;

When President Obama took office in 2009, he told us that he “will be held accountable.” He also told us that, within his first term, he would turn around a struggling American economy and put the country back on the right track. He said, “if I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”

Allen West Takes A Shot At Obama’s Afghanistan Speech

Florida Congressman Allen West called President Obama’s speech a “highly politicized ‘Mission Accomplished’ speech that was absent of the aircraft carrier and the banner.” He said it “ended up being more of a campaign speech, than really a strategy speech for that theater of operations.’ West indicated that the speech was more about Obama, and little about the generals and troops.

Herman Cain Responds To President Obama’s Speech On Afghanistan

Republican candidate, Herman Cain responded to President Obama’s speech with a letter to supporters last night.

President Obama’s statement tonight is a stark reminder that while one might campaign in poetry, one must govern in prose.

While all Americans hope and pray for a speedy, victorious resolution to the war in Afghanistan that prevents the continued loss of our national treasures— our men and women in uniform— and our national treasury, how we define an honorable exit remains to be seen.

The President suggested that we cannot become isolationist or engage in every international conflict, but instead, we must charter a “middle course.” How does he define this? It seems to be yet another foggy foreign policy coming from this administration.

Instead of providing the American people with clarity, President Obama proposes an abrupt withdrawal of our troops that could potentially compromise the legitimate gains we have made in Afghanistan. Sadly, I fear President Obama’s decision could embolden our enemy and endanger our troops.

President Obama is correct on one account: it is time for nation-building at home and high time the Afghan people take more responsibility in bringing peace and stability to their own country.
