Last night at the debate Barack Obama claimed that 100% of John McCain’s ads are negative. He was pretty close, but McCain has had some positive ads, and he starts the post debate era with an ad that tells us about how he will make things better. He starts out with nice calming music and McCain saying, “the last eight years haven’t worked very well, have they. I’ll make the next four years better” According to McCain, “we need a new direction, and I have a plan.” This is the nicer, gentler McCain who still takes shots at his opponent, but he makes you feel good about it.

Barack Obama has released an ad in response to John McCain telling him he should have ran four years ago if he wanted to run against President Bush. In the ad they use the clip from the debate and then go to an earlier interview with McCain saying he campaigned and voted for George Bush in 2000 and 2004. McCain even gets a little giddy about it saying, “I did everything I could to get him elected and reelected.” It is a good video, and it makes a point, but would you expect him to campaign and vote for John Kerry and Al Gore?

Here is a video from the Heartland Democratic Presidential Forum December, 07. This was a forum of community organizers like ACORN, and Barack Obama showed up to speak with them. He assures them if elected President they will be a part of his administration. Obama tells them, “before I even get inaugurated, during the transition, we are going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda. We are going to be having meetings all across the country with community organizations, so that you have input in to the agenda for the next president of the United States of America.” So the folks that are screwing up voter registrations all across the country in every battleground state will help Obama with input. The same folks that encouraged all those banks, through intimidation, to make bad loans will help Obama get us out of our economic mess. Obama claims his relationship with ACORN is limited. “As an elected official, I’ve had interactions with them. But they are not advising our campaign,” Obama said. “We’ve got the best voter registration and turnout and volunteer operation in politics right now, and we don’t need ACORN’s help.” Obama goes on to say his only relationship with ACORN was some legal work he did for the group in 1995. “That was my relationship and is my relationship to ACORN,” he said. Although they are currently trying to say this is part of a right wing smear machine Obama’s relationship with ACORN is long a deep. There is an article from the Winter 2003-Spring 2004 issue of Social Policy magazine written by Toni Foulkes, a Chicago ACORN leader and a member of ACORN’s National Association Board that details the work Obama did for ACORN. ACORN is denying access to the article, but you can see a copy of the article titled Case Study: Chicago-The Barack Obama Campaign here.

Billboards advertising for Barack Obama can now be found on video games. Some of the billboards in the Xbox 360 racing game Burnout Paradise have been bought by the Obama campaign and read, “Early Voting Has Begun. VoteForChange.com” with a big picture of Obama on them. “I can confirm that the Obama campaign has paid for in-game advertising in Burnout,†Holly Rockwood, director of corporate communications at Electronic Arts said. “Like most television, radio and print outlets, we accept advertising from credible political candidates.” She added that “like political spots on the television networks, these ads do not reflect the political policies of EA or the opinions of its development teams.â€
Barack Obama was taking some questions from a crowd when a plumber asked him, “your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” “It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too,” Obama responded. “I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

At a rally in in West Philadelphia Barack Obama started talking pie. In a span of under 2 minutes he manages to mention the word pie 15 times. This is what happens when he gets off the teleprompter, he starts talking pie. Maybe someone hooked him up with some Philly chronic when he was bumming cigarettes, and he just had a case of the munchies. What ever it was, I hope someone gave Obama some sweet potato pie when he finished speaking.
While the news keeps bringing up the mean spirited Republicans at John McCain rallies they fail to mention that the same stuff is coming form the Democrats as well. In the short time that Sarah Palin has been on the scene she has been the subject of numerous attacks. Here is a video that shows a McCain Palin march that went through the streets of the Upper West Side in Manhattan on Sunday, September 21, 2008. Instead of a peaceful march in support of a candidate, these McCain supporters walked right into the belly of the beast. They were met with boos, jeers, and the middle finger from what I would assume are Barack Obama supporters. So how can democrats bring up the mean spiritedness at a McCain rally when they can’t even be a little respectful during a peaceful march? Obama, who calls himself a unifier, is dividing this country into two distinct and angry groups. How could he be a unifier when his own party is split?
