ACORN Signs Up The Dallas Cowboys In Fraud Sting

The group know as ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) is getting a lot of attention due to irregularities in their voter registration practices. Their Las Vegas office was raided after complaints of voter fraud. Some reports even say they have registered the whole starting line up of the Dallas Cowboys to vote in Nevada. The group has been submitting registrations through a voter sign-up drive known as Project Vote. Bob Walsh, spokesman for the Nevada secretary of state’s office said, “some of them used nonexistent names, some of them used false addresses and some of them were duplicates of previously filed applications.” ACORN has responded by saying, “Today’s raid by the secretary of state’s office is a stunt that serves no useful purpose other than discredit our work registering Nevadans and distracting us from the important work ahead of getting every eligible voter to the polls.” This is not the only instance or the first time ACORN’s voter registration drives have been in question. They are currently under investigation in several states, and in 2006 they committed what Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed called the “worse case of election fraud” in the state’s history. In that case they submitted over 1,800 new voter registration forms, and only 6 prove to be real. Part of the problem is they recruit recruiters off the street and pay them per person they register. They are supposed to be a non-partisan organization, but they focus their attention on groups that are traditionally democratic like blacks, young, Latino and low income earners. They call these groups “historically underrepresented in elections.” Their current drive is concentrating their efforts in battleground states Barack Obama needs to win. Project Vote ran voter registration operations in 21 states; included are the battlegrounds Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
John McCain’s camp has responded to this situation by saying, “ACORN is one of the largest radical organizations in America that represents another questionable association of Barack Obama’s. Obama’s campaign has been endorsed by ACORN’s political action committee and their sister corporation received nearly $1 million from Obama’s campaign which they originally misrepresented on their FEC report. ACORN masquerades their efforts as good yet the endless examples of voter fraud and wrongdoing makes clear that their true mission is to poison the political process. ACORN’s efforts are reminiscent of the sleazy Chicago politics that Barack Obama embraces.” From ACORN’s own press release it states “ACORN’s non-partisan voter registration program is about empowering local low- and moderate-income people by bringing them into the democratic process.” They go on to state, “in 2007-2008 ACORN has already helped register over 1.27 million people nationwide. The majority of ACORN registrants are low-income, about 75% are African-American, 25% are Latino and 50% are under 30 years old.” I guess poor white people and senior citizens just don’t count when it comes to ACORN.

Ron Paul Speaks Out On Bail Out

Here is video of Ron Paul speaking about the bail out bill just minutes after the bill was passed. He said we a dealing with the “actual bankruptcy of this country.” There will be benefits though. He says just like the Soviets in 1989, we will be forced to downgrade our foreign policy initiatives since we can no longer afford to be the aggressor. Paul says we can not expect the same people that got us into this mess to get us out. Instead he has hope in the young people getting this stuff straightened out. I say, get to work young people.

Obama Releases Documentary On Keating 5 Scandal

Barack Obama has released a 13 minute documentary that details John McCain’s ties with the Keaton 5 scandal of the 1980’s. Charles Keating, an Arizona businessman, went to prison because of the savings and loans crisis in the 80’s. They tie that financial crisis with the current one, and blame McCain because of his “attitudes about economic oversight and corporate influence in federal regulation.” The Obama camp claims “The Keating scandal is eerily similar to today’s credit crisis, where a lack of regulation and cozy relationships between the financial industry and Congress has allowed banks to make risky loans and profit by bending the rules. And in both cases, John McCain’s judgment and values have placed him on the wrong side of history.” They also have a website so you can donate while you watch the video.

The DNC Responds To McCain Attack Ads With McCain

The Democratic National Committee has released a new ad that uses John McCain from 2000 rejecting the use of attack ads, in response to McCain’s current plan to start a “newly aggressive assault on Senator Barack Obamas character.” The ad starts by showing a montage of McCain attack ads. Then they have an interview with John McCain from the 2000 campaign aboard the straight talk express bus. McCain says, “Uh, I, I just have to rely on the good judgment of the voters not to buy into these negative attack ads. Sooner or later, people are going to figure out if all you run is negative attack ads you dont have much of a vision for the future or you’re not ready to articulate it.” I guess he is having a hard articulating right now.

McCain Calls Obama Dangerous

In his latest attack ad John McCain says that Barack Obama is to risky for America. They use a clip from last year with Obama saying our troops in Afghanistan are “just air-raiding villages and killing civilians.” Then the ad’s announcer concludes “How dishonorable.” The clip comes from a town hall meeting where Obama was asked about his plans for Afghanistan. He answers by saying, “We’ve got to get the job done there and that requires us to have enough troops so that we’re not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous pressure over there.” He was pressed to apologize to the troops back then, but never did. The Republican National Committee called the comments “offensive.” “Congressional liberals voted repeatedly to cut off funding to our active troops,” the ad continues. “Increasing the risk on their lives. How dangerous. Obama and congressional liberals.”

New Orleans About To Nominate A Crook For Congress

U.S. Rep. William Jefferson who was caught with over 90 thousand dollars of cash in his freezer, and was indicted on corruption charges by a federal grand jury in Virginia has won enough votes in his district to secure a spot on the November ballot. Jefferson represents the New Orleans area and is seeking a 10th term. In December he faces charges of bribery, laundering money and misusing his congressional office for business dealings in Africa. This guy is the poster child for “boot those bums out,” yet he is still on the ticket. According to Jefferson, “The work that I do is based on relationships with the members of Congress and it’s based on having been there for 18 years. I have walked in the shoes of other members when they have needed things for their areas and they have walked in my shoes as we need things here. That’s the way that Congress works.” Sounds like he is a pro in pork barrel projects. If he wins his runoff in November he could face a little know republican in December in his heavily democratic district. This would mean he could win his seat just days before he faces his charges, and hopefully jail. Not only him, but his siblings as well are facing unrelated federal corruption charges. Is this really the best New Orleans can come up with?
