Dinner With Mitt Romney Would Be Chaotic

Mitt Romney stopped by for an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos for his Sunday edition of “This Week.” They talked about his recent comments on the Libya situation and Romney said he had reached, “exactly the same conclusion the White House reached.” He discussed the polls saying “beating an incumbent is never easy.” Stephanonpoulos asked about the debates and Romney claimed President Obama sometimes tells stories about his opponents. “I think the challenge that I’ll have in the debate is that the president tends to, how shall I say it, to say things that aren’t true.” He talks about the challenge of the debate for him saying, “I’ve looked at prior debates. And in that kind of case, it’s difficult to say, ‘Well, am I going to spend my time correcting things that aren’t quite accurate? Or am I going to spend my time talking about the things I want to talk about?”

The unemployment rate dropped to 8.1% at the last check, and it caused some on the left to say President Obama’s plan is showing some signs of working, but Fed chairman Ben Bernanke has a different story line. Ron Paul Said The Fed Is Creating New Money Out Of This Air

Ron Paul was on Bloomburg TV’s “Street Smart” to talk about the Fed yesterday. He told hosts Trish Regan and Adam Johnson that, “we are weakening the dollar. We are trying to liquidate our debt through inflation. The consequence of what the Fed is doing is a lot more than just CPI. It has to do with malinvestment and people doing the wrong things at the wrong time. Believe me, there is plenty of that. The one thing that Bernanke has not achieved and it frustrates him, I can tell, is he gets no economic growth. He doesn’t do anything with the unemployment numbers. I think the country should have panicked over what the Fed is saying that we have lost control and the only thing we have left is massively creating new money out of thin air, which has not worked before, and is not going to work this time.” Ron Paul added that the, “liquidity should be determined by the market. I don’t think he should raise rates. He should just get out of rigging rates. The system is so biased. It helps the bankers who get free money and then they buy government debt. What about the people who are frightened, they do not like the stock market and they are frugal and want to take care of themselves? What do they get—1% on a CD? That is unfair. It’s bad economics. You want to let the market determine interest rates and let it sort it out. People get so nervous, because we have lived so long with a Keynesian economic model of fixing interest rates and intervening in the market.”

President Obama Says We Have A Choice Between Two Very Different Plans For Our Country.

In his latest made for TV campaign ad President Obama says, Over the next few months you have a choice to make. Not just between two political parties or even two people. It’s a choice between two very different plans for our country. He explains, “Governor Romney’s plan would cut taxes for the folks at the very top, roll back regulations on big banks, and he says that if we do our economy will grow and everyone will benefit. But you know what? We tried that top-down approach. It’s what caused the mess in the first place. I believe the only way to create an economy built to last is to strengthen the middle class. Asking the wealthy to pay a little more so we can pay down our debt in a balanced way. So that we can afford to invest in education, manufacturing, and homegrown American energy for good middle class jobs.”

We’ve Heard It All Before The DNC Edition

The RNC have a new ad out that points out again that President Obama needs some new speech writers. A common theme for the last year has been that President Obama just repeats the same phrases in all of his speeches. The RNC have jumped on this a few times this campaign season, and now they have the DNC version that compares his speech to some of his speeches during the 2008 campaign. “President Obama does not have anything left except excuses,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “He proved at the DNC that hope is fading fast and change is gone. President Obama has no tangible plan to fix our economy. He is offering more of the same failed policies that have not turned our economy around. He continues to recite the same tired excuses for his inability to keep the promises he made to the American people. We need someone with a proven track record of solving problems in the White House, not a fading rock star with nothing new to offer.”
