President Obama Asks Floridians About The Romney Ryan Plan To End Medicare As We Know

The Obama campaign “asked Floridians what they thought of the Romney-Ryan plan.” The funny part about this ad is none of the people featured in it would be affected by the Romney-Ryan plan since all of them are clearly over the age of 55. Either this ad is misleading, or this group of people are uninformed of all the facts before them.

President Obama Says Mitt Romney Is Using False Welfare Reform Attack Ads

Mitt Romney has attacked President Obama for his recent welfare reform that allows states to drop the work requirement as long as they move 20% of those from welfare to the workforce. Romney claims this drops any requirement for work, while President Obama says he is putting more people to work with his reforms. If read in a literal fashion Obama would be correct, but those on the right find it hard to believe his intentions. In 1996, a Republican Congress drafted a welfare-reform law, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), that for the first time established meaningful work standards for welfare recipients. President Clinton reluctantly signed this legislation. One of the easy ways for states to move people from the welfare to work status is through creative math. If you increase the people in the welfare program, then it becomes easier to get to the 20% necessary to drop the work requirements. Of course left leaning fact check and politifact agree with President Obama, but those on the right that have seen welfare and government programs grow at astronomical rates under Obama find it hard to believe he would do anything to put people back to work. Also these fact checkers are ignoring some of the new definitions of “work” being touted. The following activities could qualify as “work” under the new Obama rules; bed rest, personal care activities, massage, exercise, journaling, motivational reading, smoking cessation, weight loss promotion, participation in parent-teacher meetings, or helping friends or family with household tasks and errands. I would call these attack ads a wash since neither is going to convince the other side of anything with these arguments. The left thinks that Romney is a shrewd, not to be trusted, politician, while those on the right believe Obama is a socialist spreading the wealth around. These ads have no fantasy value.

Mitt Romney Says President Obama Has A Long History Of Opposing Work For Welfare.

Mitt Romney’s latest campaign ad explains that President Obama has opposed working for welfare for a long time, going all the way back to community organizing days of 1998. I am not sure why anyone cared what an unknown state Senator from Illinois thought about national politics, but Romney has the video. The ad says, “Last month, President Obama ended work requirements for welfare. Mitt Romney believes work must be part of welfare and will put work back in welfare.”

We Can’t Take Another Month Of Obama According To Restore Our Future

The Super PAC, Restore Our Future, have an ad out that says President Obama doesn’t have a record to run on, and instead can only “launch “Shameful” “Dishonest” attacks. With no record to run on, it’s the only strategy Obama has left.” He has tried to joke about it, deny it, and even insist everything is fine, and we aren’t buying it.

Sabato’s Crystal Ball On, Romney Hops On The Ryan Express

Larry J. Sabato from the University of Virginia Center for Politics, looks closely at Mitt Romney’s pick of Paul Ryan for VP. Sabato calls him a national pick, and not someone just to pick up Wisconsin. “By selecting Ryan, Romney has essentially taken ownership of Ryan’s budget ideas. That’s probably a relief to Republicans, who question Romney’s commitment to the cause, but it also provides openings to Democrats, as the Ryan budget could be a potent political weapon in the fall, and not just at the top of the ticket.” Romney is looking for a partner to clean up this mess, not just a running mate. In this video Sabato analyzes the ramifications of this development and answer questions regarding the pick.

GOP Weekly Address 8/11/2012 Obama’s Cuts In Defense Will Harm National Security

This week President Obama signed the Sequestration Transparency Act and by September 6th he will be required to provide taxpayers and Congress with his plan for the defense cuts he insisted be part of the sequestration scheduled to begin on January 2, 2013. The President’s own defense secretary has said these cuts would hollow out our Armed Forces. In the Weekly Republican Address, U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi) says, “severe and indiscriminate cuts that harm our security are not the way to address America’s fiscal challenges.” He says, “unless the current law is changed, sequestration will force another half a trillion in cuts to defense programs over the next 10 years,” with almost 1 million jobs at risk. Wicker says, “unless the current law is changed, sequestration will force another half a trillion in cuts to defense programs over the next 10 years. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has described the effect on our national security as devastating, and I agree.”
