Mitt Romney Gives Us A Jolt Of Doing Fine With Job Losses

The Romney campaign says, “Last Friday, the unemployment rate rose to 8.2 percent and 300,000 more people joined the long-term unemployed. One week later, President Obama said the private sector is doing fine. Only a president that presides over forty months of unemployment over 8 percent would think that the last jobs report is “doing fine.” These comments show that President Obama is completely out of touch with the middle class.”
Here is their latest campaign ad, “Jolt”;

Mitt Romney Wants To Fire Police Officers, Fireman, And Teachers

A recent campaign ad from President Obama infers that Mitt Romney will fire teachers, police officers, and fireman if he gets elected. According to the ad, “Yesterday Mitt Romney said of President Obama, “…he wants another stimulus, he wants to hire more government workers. He says we need more fireman, more policeman, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people.”

Super PAC Releases Another Misleading Bain Capital Ad

An Obama Super PAC, Priorities USA Action, put out another ad on Bain Capital and GST Steel on Sunday. This one features an interview with a GST Steel worker named “Donnie.” GST Steel was a Kansas City company that went bankrupt and closed in 2001, eight years after it was purchased by Bain Capital. According to the ad, Mitt Romney and Bain Capital shut down “entire livelihoods.” “This was a booming place, and Mitt Romney and Bain Capital turned it into a junkyard.” The ad is a bit misleading since Romney had little to do with the steel industry facing strong competition from cheaper steel in China. Steel companies across the nation were facing problems at that time. Bain Capital bought GST Steel as it was going into bankruptcy and kept it going for eight more years. Romney left Bain Capital in 1999 to go help run the Winter Olympics, which is two years before GST Steel went belly up in 2001. The director of Bain Capital at the time of the company’s bankruptcy and layoffs was Jonathan Lavine, who happens to be a major bundler for President Obama raising almost 200 thousand dollars for his re-election. Even though these facts were revealed over a month ago when Priorities USA released the first ads on GST Steel, they continue with the misleading ads. Even writing new ones. I wonder how “Donnie” would have felt about a job with Solyndra?

President Obama Changes His Mind Saying The Econmy Is Not Doing Fine

President Obama has now backtracked on his statement during his press conference when he said “the private sector is doing fine.” The GOP and Mitt Romney wasted no time using President Obama’s own words against him by making web ads. Now the President admits that the economy is not doing fine, and that was why he had the press conference in the first place. “It’s absolutely clear the economy is not doing fine,” President Obama said. “That’s the reason I had a press conference. That’s why I spent yesterday, the day before yesterday, this past week, this past month and this past year talking about how we can make the economy stronger. The economy is not doing fine. There are too many people out of work. The housing market is still weak, too many homes underwater and that’s precisely why I asked Congress to start taking some steps that can make a difference.”

President Obama Says It Is Up To You To Give Him More Money

For the first time since Hillary Clinton someone else has raised more campaign cash than President Obama, and “Independent special interests and Super PACs on the right are building unprecedented war chests.” Mitt Romney’s campaign hauled in almost 77 million dollars in the last quarter. In President Obama’s latest web ad he is asking you to give him more cash, cause “it’s up to you to fight back.”

GOP Weekly Address 6/9/2012

In this week’s address, Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-MN) discusses the House’s recent vote to repeal the medical device tax included in the president’s health care law. We cannot raise taxes on anyone–especially when the May jobs report revealed the 40th consecutive month of unemployment above 8%. House Republicans have passed dozens of jobs bills that still sit in the Democrat-controlled Senate.

President Obama’s Weekly Address 6/9/2012 Congress Needs To Get Our Teachers Back To Work

In this week’s address, President Obama urges Congress to take action now to put our teachers back to work in classrooms, because the best predictor of individual and American success in this economy is a good education. The President said, “it should concern everyone that right now – all across America – tens of thousands of teachers are getting laid off. In Pennsylvania alone, there are 9,000 fewer educators in our schools today than just a year ago. In Ohio, the number is close to 7,000. And nationwide, over the past three years, school districts have lost over 250,000 educators.” He goes on to blame Congress for this problem saying, “when states struggle, it’s up to Congress to step in and help out. In 2009 and in 2010, we provided aid to states to help keep hundreds of thousands of teachers in the classroom. But we need to do more. That’s why a critical part of the jobs bill that I sent to Congress back in September was to help states prevent even more layoffs and rehire even more teachers who had lost their jobs. But months later, we’re still waiting on Congress to act.”

Romney told the crowd, “for the President of the United States to stand up and say, ‘the private sector is doing fine,’ is going to go down in history as an extraordinary miscalculation and misunderstanding by a president who is out of touch.
