Democrat Karen Bass Says Food Stamps Helps Small Business

Representative Karen Bass (Calf-D) went on MSNBC NewsNation with guest host Thomas Roberts to talk about the House Republicans budget. According to Bass, the Republican budget “gives massive tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans, Big Oil and companies that ship jobs overseas, while increasing costs for student loans and ending the Medicare guarantee for seniors.” She tried to say that food stamps are good for the economy by saying, “when you’re talking about cutting meals on wheels, when you’re talking about cutting food stamps which actually is money that goes directly to small businesses, markets in communities. Versus giving tax subsidies to farming corporations, these are the kind of cuts that the Republicans are talking about.”
