Global Warming Up to Al Gore Not Exxon/Mobile

Al Gore, during an interview with CNN affiliate Cuatro in Madrid, said that Bush administration is now paying scientist to lie about Global Warming. According to Gore, “they’ve lost the argument and they don’t want to stop dumping all this pollution into the Earth’s atmosphere. The only thing they have left is cash and now they’re offering cash for so-called skeptics who will try to confuse people about what the science really say. But it’s unethical because now the time has come when we have to act.” The Sydney Morning Herald reported Exxon/Moble, with close ties to the Bush administration, was paying up to ten thousands dollars a day to scientist to encourage them to undermine the recent report of climate changes. The Union of Concerned Scientist also said that the Bush administration has been trying to undermine their Science claiming that, “the administration has consistently misrepresented the findings of the National Academy of Sciences, government scientists, and the expert community at large. Thus in June 2003, the White House demanded extensive changes in the treatment of climate change in a major report by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). To avoid issuing a scientifically indefensible report, EPA officials eviscerated the discussion of climate change and its consequences.’ The American Enterprise Institute, AEI, has been questioned on why they would pay scientists ten thousand dollars to contribute to a book debunking Global Warming. AEI has received funding from Exxon/Moble in recent years. Henry Waxman, chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, has been holding hearings about the Bush’s adminstration inappropriately censoring impartial government scientists to mislead the public by injecting doubt about global warming and its implications. All this after last Friday, a group of international scientists released their first report in five years stating that global warming is in fact “very likely,” caused by man, and hotter temperatures and rising sea levels will continue for centuries to come. There are other Scientist who claim that there isn’t any global warming, or that it is caused by the sun and not man, but the overwhelming majority of scientist favor the report by the international scientists released Feb. 2.
