Hillary Clinton Says Obama Is Making False Claims In Ohio

At a rally at Cincinnati State College Hillary Clinton pointed out that change for the sake of change is not always a good thing using President Bush as an example. “People talk a lot about change. We have lived through some of the worst change that anyone could imagine the last seven years,” Clinton said. “People thought we were getting a compassionate conservative, didn’t they? It turned out he was neither. We have lived with the consequences of those mistakes.” “He promised change as a compassionate conservative,” she said referring to President Bush, “and the American people got shafted.” Then she added as a shot towards Barack Obama, “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.” But she saved her harshest attacks against Obama for after the rally when she met with reporters. Clinton was angry about two mailers being sent out in Ohio regarding her health care plan, and her support for NAFTA. “Enough with the speeches and the big rallies and then using tactics that are right out of Karl Rove’s play book. This is wrong and every Democrat should be outraged,” Clinton said. “So shame on you Barack Obama. It is time you ran a campaign consistent with your messages in public. That’s what I expect from you. Meet me in Ohio and let’s have a debate about your tactics and your behavior in this campaign,” Clinton said. They are scheduled to debate in Cleveland on Tuesday. One of the mailers is about NAFTA and uses a quote out of Newsday that Clinton claims she never said, and Newsday has since printed a correction about. The second mailer is about health care and claims her plan would force people to buy health insurance even if they can’t afford it. “I have to express my deep disappointment that he is continuing to send false and discredited mailings with information that is not true to the voters of Ohio. He says one thing in speeches, and then he turns around and does this,” Clinton told reporters. NAFTA is a big issue in Ohio where many feel it lead to massive job losses in America. “I have been critical of NAFTA for years,” Clinton said. “I have said repeatedly that it did not realize its potential or its promises and we had to change it.” One of the reporters pointed out that Bill Clinton signed NAFTA into law, but Clinton pointed out that it was written by the Bush administration. Obama feels Clinton is up to something by bringing up these mailers saying, “It makes me think there is something tactical about her getting so exercised this morning.”
