John McCain is using Joe Biden’s comments last week warning that Barack Obama will be tested early in his presidency in his latest ad. The narrator of the ad starts by saying, “listen to Joe Biden talking about what electing Barack Obama will mean.” Then we get an edited cut of Biden saying, “mark my words. it will not be 6 months before the world tests Barack Obama. The world is looking. We’re going to have an international crisis to test the mettle of this guy. I guarantee you it’s going to happen.” These quotes go on over the pictures of Hamas soldiers, Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Then the narrator comes back saying, “It doesn’t have to happen, vote McCain.” They leave out the part where Biden says he thinks Obama will handle the situation. McCain has been using the comments on the campaign trail and issued a press release on the subject saying, “because of Barack Obama’s inexperience, Joe Biden has guaranteed the American people that the world will test Barack Obama within the first six months of being elected. If Barack Obama’s vote against the surge and response to the Russia-Georgia crisis are any indication, Americans can’t afford to see if he passes the test or not.” Biden has not commented on the ad or the attacks.
