Mitt Romney Asked About His Own Son’s Service

Mitt Romney was asked if any of his own children have served in the military, and what they were doing to “support the war on terror.” The question came to him during a campaign stop by a lady who is a member of the Quad City Progressive Action for the Common Good and is the sister of an Army major who has served in Iraq. Romney has five sons, who maintain the blog “Five Brothers” on Romney’s website, and has been a strong supporter of the war in Iraq. Romney gave a vague answer saying, “The good news is, we have a volunteer army, and we’re going to keep it that way,” Romney responded. “My sons are all adults…. They’ve made their decisions about their careers and chosen not to serve in the military and I respect that decision.” I guess Romney feels that rich children don’t need to serve, only our children. Romney went on to call for a “surge of support” for those who have enlisted. As long as they are not his kids. Since he didn’t answer what his own sons are doing to “support the war on terror” that he so supports, I guess the answer is nothing. So go carry that banner for them, they are to busy campaigning for Romney.
