President Obama’s Bus Tour

President Obama is on a White House sponsored bus tour modeled after a classic campaign bus tour. His first stop was in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. At this stop he said he likes the idea of calling his health care program Obamacare, and he was grateful for being out of Washington. “The costs have been going up and up and up. So part of the Affordable Care Act, health care reform, also known as Obamacare. By the way, let me tell you, I have no problem with folks saying ‘Obama cares.’ I do care,” President Obama said. He explained, ”there is nothing wrong with America that can’t be fixed. What’s broken is our politics.”
After this stop President Obama went on to Decorah, Iowa with a nice barn for a backdrop. At this stop he compared his struggles to President Lincoln. “Lincoln … they used to talk about him almost as bad as they talk about me. So democracy has never been for the faint of heart,” President Obama said. He also tried to explain that Vice-president Biden didn’t really call Tea Party members terrorist. At both stops he wanted people to know that he had “reversed the recession,….but over the last six months we’ve had a run of bad luck.” He then listed the tsunami in Japan, the Arab spring, and the debt crisis in Europe as the problems that slowed his recovery down. But most importantly “is that we’ve got the kind of partisan brinksmanship that is willing to put party ahead of country, that is more interested in seeing their political opponents lose than seeing the country win. Nowhere was that more evident than in this recent debt ceiling debacle.” So his policies are not the problem, it’s all this other stuff that is getting in the way. President Obama did say that he will be offering a better plan late September that will fix this economy. It has got to be better than his last plan that the Senate voted against 96-0.
The White House claims this is part of the Presidents official duties to tell the people about the economic issues they face. In reality it looks more like a stump speech paid for by the American tax payer. The secret service invested in 2 buses for the tour at a price of a cool million a piece all on the tax payers dime. This show fiscal responsibility by the President’s campaign team since they are planning on raising about a billion dollars for his presidential campaign. Using the tax payers money like this is saving them millions they can invest in TV time later.

The Democrats Are Running Against The Tea Party, Not The Republicans

The Democrats have sent out an email about the field of GOP presidential candidates. According to the Democrats, the two winners of the Ames straw poll, Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul are “the two most extreme candidates in the field.” Tim Pawlenty dropped out because he, “was too “nice” for the Republican voters and “didn’t fit with an electorate who wanted confrontation with President Obama at all costs.” In other words: You ain’t seen nothing yet.” “The Tea Party has all the momentum right now in the GOP primaries, and that’s what knocked Tim Pawlenty out of this race.” According to the letter the field of candidates will “produce a GOP nominee who’s pledged allegiance to the Tea Party agenda — an agenda whose first item is to destroy Democrats no matter the consequences for our country.” The Democrats feel that all of the GOP candidates are one of the same, and all of them have “signed on to the Washington Republican plan that essentially ends Medicare, cuts K-12 education, and eliminates hundreds of thousands of jobs.” “The prize will go to the candidate willing to launch the most vicious, negative attack on our party and our principles.” Because, “Every one of the remaining GOP 2012 candidates has taken a pledge of allegiance to the Tea Party — promising to end Medicare, repeal the Affordable Care Act, cut K-12 education, and eliminate hundreds of thousands of jobs.” If they are going to do all of this stuff, I hope they can repeal Obamacare as well.

President Obama’s Debt-End Bus Tour

President Obama is on a bus tour for the next couple of days campaigning on the tax payers dime. He is touting a jobs program and will head to Martha’s Vineyard for a nice long vacation after that. A letter from Reince Priebus, the RNC Chairman, says, “Barack Obama is hitting the road this week in Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois on a taxpayer-funded stunt to try and recapture the glory days of 2008’s “Hope & Change” and once again use the liberal media to pull the wool over the American people’s eyes. Obama may be looking to cruise Main Street, USA, but his policies have America headed for a “debt” end.” The RNC is using President Obama’s debt-end tour as a fundraising opportunity.

Tim Pawlenty Is Out

Tim Pawlenty was on ABC’s “This Week” and announced he is dropping out of the race. According to Pawlenty, “We needed to get some lift to continue on and to have a pathway forward. That didn’t happen, so I’m announcing this morning on your show that I’m going to be ending my campaign for president. But I’m very, very grateful for the people of Iowa, the people of this country who I had a chance to make my case to. And for my supporters and staff and friends who have been so loyal and helpful, I really appreciate all of them. I wish it would have been different, but obviously the pathway forward for me doesn’t really exist, and so we’re going to end the campaign.” Pawlenty did not indicate who he would back for the nomination.

Mitt Romney Gives President Obama A Warm Minnesota Welcome

From the Romney campaign; “During his Magical Misery bus tour this week, it is unlikely President Obama will speak with unemployed Americans, to near-bankrupt business owners, or to families struggling to survive in this economy. He is more interested in campaigning in swing states than working to solve the economic crisis that is crushing the middle class. Turning this economy around will require real leadership and the experience of someone who has actually worked in the private sector.”
