Here is a CBS news report that debates whether or not Michele Bachmann should be disqualified from the race for the presidency because she suffers from migraine headaches. Congressional Smackdown From South Florida West V Shultz

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) waited for her colleague from South Florida Allen West (R-FL) to walk off the floor to take a shot at him. According to Schultz, ““The gentleman from Florida who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries. Unbelievable from a member from South Florida.”
She was referring to a GOP backed bill to reduce the debt and amend the Constitution to require a balanced federal budget that later in the day passed with a 234-190 vote. West didn’t take to kindly to Shutz’s attack and responded with an email;

Subject: Unprofessional and Inappropriate Sophomoric Behavior from Wasserman-Schultz

Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional ,and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!

I am bringing your actions today to our Majority Leader and Majority Whip and from this time forward, understand that I shall defend myself forthright against your heinous characterless behavior……which dates back to the disgusting protest you ordered at my campaign hqs, October 2010 in Deerfield Beach.

You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!

Steadfast and Loyal

Congressman Allen B West (R-FL)

A spokesperson from Wasserman Shultz sent his own email response to West saying, “I don’t think that Congressman West is upset at the congresswoman, but rather with the fact that she highlighted that he and other Republicans are once again trying to balance the budget on the backs of seniors, children and the middle class. … The truth hurts.” Representative West has since shot back calling this, “another cowardly cheap shot at Congressman West.”

GOP Break Out Change Direction 3

The GOP has come out with a third ad in the Change Direction series. According to the GOP, “America Must Change Direction! The best way you can help win the fight for America’s future is by supporting the one organization that is doing more than any other conservative group to elect GOP candidates at all levels of government and make Barack Obama a one-term president: The Republican National Committee (RNC).”

From White House; Leadership Is Not Leading

White House press secretary Jay Carney told the members of the press today that leadership means waiting for Congress to come up with a plan. Jake Trapper of ABC wanted to know if this would be a good time for President Obama to show leadership. Carney responded by saying, “Leadership is not proposing a plan for the sake of having it voted up or down, and likely voted down because it is — look, you know how this town works and how Congress works.”

Ron Paul Claims We Will Default Because The Debt Is Unsustainable

Ron Paul (R-TX) spoke today on the House floor to say the world is concerned about the debt and what congress is going to do about it. “When a country is indebted to the degree that we’re indebted, the country always defaults….. We will default because the debt is unsustainable,” Paul said today. Paul explained that increasing the debt ceiling will cause inflation. The dollar has devalued 50% to value of gold in the last 3 years. This devaluing of the dollar will cause us to default through inflation. The only way to prevent this is by cutting spending, and Paul said, “the reason we don’t cut spending is because one side loves entitlements, while the other side loves war.” Paul wraps up saying, “If we don’t understand this, this default will not be because we don’t send out the checks. We will send out the checks. It will be defaulted on because people will get their money back, or they will get their Social Security checks and it won’t buy anything.”

Senator Dick Lugar Battles Club For Growth

Club For Growth has been running ads in Indiana which takes shots at Senator Dick Lugar (R-IND) for voting repeatedly for increasing debt. According to the ad, “Lugar voted for the Wall Street bailout, the car company bailouts, the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailout. Back in the 1970s, he even voted to bail out New York City. Now, with 14 trillion in debt, Lugar will soon vote on raising our debt limit even higher.” Lugar has responded with an ad of his own which attacks President Obama. “President Obama needs to understand that for jobs to grow, business must expect to make a profit,” Lugar says. “Instead, he keeps pushing for taxes and regulation. He’s just wrong. For 35 years, I’ve battled for balanced budgets and less government. I’ve helped beat tough times before. And we can do that again. And I hope you’ll agree that a veteran, fighting alongside our new recruits, will help.”
