President Obama’s Summer Organizer Program

President Obama’s campaign has big plans to organize communities across America. Here is a quick rundown of their plans for the summer;

— Messina mentioned the one-on-one initiative last month. We’re going to talk with every person who volunteered or made a donation last time. So the staff and I started making calls and meeting with people one-on-one. And then those people started having their own one-on-ones with others. So far more than 75,000 individual conversations have happened across the country. The results are a massive army of newly energized volunteers, plus thousands of pages of ideas and feedback that will inform how we shape our organization nationally.

— Grassroots planning sessions are under way across the country — we’ve had dozens so far with more than a hundred still to come. Everyone has been or will be invited to one.

— You heard about our Summer Organizer Program when we asked you to help recruit them. Well, there are now hundreds across the country, and they start next week. We were pleasantly surprised that the number of applicants far exceeded what we saw when we launched this program in 2008, and you’ll be hearing more about them — and in many cases from them directly — in the coming months.

What Would Candidate Obama Say About President Obama’s War In Libya

The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.

As Commander-in-Chief, the President does have a duty to protect and defend the United States. In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch. It is always preferable to have the informed consent of Congress prior to any military action.

Sarah Palin Gets Confused About History On Her Vacation Tour In Boston

Sarah Palin gives her version of Paul Revere claiming he warned the British. She might have been thinking about Paul Revere and the Raiders. It seems more likely we just don’t understand Alaska speak. She says “he warned..uh..the British…they weren’t going to be taking away our arms.” She leaves out a lot of words and it sounds like she is saying something completely different.

The GOP Reacts To The Job Report

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) tells President Obama it is time to get serious about job creation. Here is a text of the speech;

It’s clear from this morning’s jobs report that the economy still isn’t creating enough jobs. If you talk to job creators around the country like we have, they’ll tell you all the over-taxing, over-regulating, and over-spending that’s going on in Washington is creating uncertainty and holding them back.
This week, House Republicans met with the president, urged him to change course, and to work with us on our plan for new jobs and economic growth in our country. We hope he’ll take us up on our invitation.
If we’re serious about creating jobs in America, we can’t raise taxes on the very people who create jobs, and keep spending money that we don’t have. Yesterday, Moody’s reinforced our point that an increase in the debt limit without major spending cuts will hurt our economy and destroy jobs. That’s why we’ve said that spending cuts must accompany any increase in the debt limit.
One look at the jobs report should be enough to show the White House it’s time to get serious about cutting spending and dealing with our ailing economy.
