Obama Offers Change In Two Minutes

Barack Obama has released this two minute ad to explain his plan to fix the economy, “and put America back on track.” He wants to reform the tax system, and give the middle class “a thousand dollar break.” Instead of “showering more on oil companies and corporations that outsource our jobs.” Is he buying our votes for a thousand dollars, or this the redistribution of wealth thing? He wants to “fast track a plan for energy made in America.” A plan he says will “free us from our dependence from Middle East oil in ten years, and put millions of Americans to work.” He also wants to end the war in Iraq so that we rebuild America instead of Iraq. He forgets to mention that he also wants to increase the size of our military, and send them to Afghanistan, but that wouldn’t fit into the two minutes. You can read his whole economic plan at BarackObama/plan. At the end he says he “approves this message because bitter partisan fights and outworn ideas of the left and right won’t solve the problems we face today.” I find that interesting since Democrats want Obama to get tougher, and a study by the Wisconsin Advertising Project, based at the University of Wisconsin, showed that since the conventions 77% of Obama’s ads have been attack ads. That compares with only 56% on the McCain’s side. If these bitter partisan fights wont solve the problem, then why is he running so many? This ad is refreshing to note that he does not mention McCain once.

McCain Points Out Obama’s Embellishments On Stimulus Package

Barack Obama told a crowd in Golden, Colorado yesterday that he proposed the plan that eventually became the $150 billion economic stimulus package that was passed by Congress early this year. “In January, I outlined a plan to help revive our faltering economy, which formed the basis for a bipartisan stimulus package that passed the Congress,” Obama said. John McCain responded at a rally in Ohio. “Let’s have straight talk,” John McCain said. “Today Obama claimed the congressional stimulus package was his idea. That’s news to those of us in Congress who supported it. Senator Obama didn’t even show up to vote.” It’s true, Obama wasn’t there to even vote present on the bill. McCain did vote for the bill which passed the Senate 81-16 on February 7, 2008. Obama, Hillary Clinton and McCain all had proposed stimulus programs around that time, but were looped out of the negotiations because Nancy Pelosi wanted bi-partisan participation. “Pelosi and Reid seemed to be ignoring the detailed policy solutions being put out by her party’s White House hopefuls,” wrote the Washington Post on January 23. The Obama camp argues Obama “was the only candidate to propose a fiscal stimulus plan centered on tax rebate checks for the broad majority of Americans. The bipartisan bill that passed less than a month later was centered on rebate checks to the broad middle class along the lines of what Obama proposed.”

Obama Goes After McCain’s Economy Comment

Barack Obama has a new ad in response to John McCain’s comment yesterday that “the fundamentals of our economy are strong.” There is no narration with the ad just headlines from yesterday about Lehman Brothers collapse, the fall of the stock market, and the thousands of daily foreclosures. Then video of John McCain saying, “I think our economy, still, the fundamentals of our economy are strong.” Then in bold headlines the screen reads, “How can John McCain fix our economy if he doesn’t understand it’s broken?” The ad ends with the standard picture of McCain and President Bush that we have gotten so used to seeing in Obama ads. McCain later tried to explain that he was referring to the American worker saying, “what I obviously was saying, and I believe, is the American workers, the most productive and the most innovative — they are the fundamentals of our economy and the strength of it and the reason why we will rebound.” Then McCain added, “We will come back from this crisis, but right now we are the victim of greed, excess and corruption in Wall Street.” Joe Biden wanted to know how the American workers could be strong if they are losing their jobs and homes. At least the candidates got off the pigs and lipstick issue and are now talking about issues that affect us.

Ralph Nader Considers Flirting With Female Pandas For Votes

Ralph Nader is so desperate for media exposure that he discuses dressing up as a panda and going to the zoo with Cardoso the Parrot, who lives with Rocky Anderson, former Mayor of Salt Lake City. Nader says the reason he is running is because he is “tired of all those years where the democrats and republican just keep parroting the corporate party line.” He claims the reporters “froze” and “blacked out the Nader Gonzalez team.” Then he goes on to say the media likes animal stories, so he concludes the best way to get media coverage would be to go to the zoo dressed as a panda. I think the parrot agrees, maybe they can go as a team. He is just pointing out the uphill struggle third party candidates face in this corporate ruled two party system we use. Third party candidates don’t have a chance in this system, since they don’t have the money or corporate backing the democrats and republicans do. You didn’t see any corporate backing at any of their conventions or Ron Paul’s rally.

Obama Says McCain Doesn’t Know How To Use A Computer

Barack Obama’s campaign has started a new ad war today, and will step up attacks on John McCain. Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said, “today is the first day of the rest of the campaign. We will respond with speed and ferocity to John McCain’s attacks and we will take the fight to him, but we will do it on the big issues that matter to the American people.” One of the first issues they want to address is McCain’s lack of computer knowledge. As Obama spokesman Dan Pfeiffer points out, “our economy wouldn’t survive without the Internet, and cyber-security continues to represent one our most serious national security threats. It’s extraordinary that someone who wants to be our president and our commander in chief doesn’t know how to send an e-mail.” The new ad starts with an old picture of McCain at a hearing wearing some really cool glasses. The announcer says, “1982, John McCain goes to Washington. Things have changed in the last 26 years, but McCain hasn’t.” “He admits he still doesn’t know how to use a computer, can’t send an e-mail, still doesn’t understand the economy, and favors two hundred billion in new tax cuts for corporations, but almost nothing for the middle class,” it says as it shows pictures of McCain hanging with President Bush. “After one president who was out of touch, we just can’t afford more of the same.”
UPDATE; McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said today that the McCain “travels with a laptop, and knows how to use a computer.”
