A Note From United For Peace and Justice, Large Anti-War Protest Scheduled This Weekend

Anti-war groups have planned a large anti-war protest in Washington D.C scheduled for this weekend. Here is a brief statement from UFPJ about it, Saturday’s demonstration in D.C. will be echoed in every corner of the country. Solidarity events are planned in Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Seattle, Denver, and more than 60 other cities. C-SPAN, Reuters and Pacifica Radio will be broadcasting the rally live and there’s a lot of other media interest. On Monday, Jan. 29th, we will bring our message directly to the offices of Congress with a grassroots lobby day. We want to show Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that we are bringing your voices with us. Please take a moment today to sign this petition demanding that Congress use its power to end the war in Iraq and to bring the troops home now. We will print out your signatures and bring them with us on Monday, so please forward the petition to everyone you know and encourage them to sign as well. But this petition campaign will not end on Monday. We will soon have a print version of the petition posted on our website, so you can download it, print it out and collect signatures in your community. Together, we will continue to pressure Congress until they bring the troops home.” “We hope to see you in the streets of Washington! And we’re sure this weekend will inspire and energize people in communities throughout the nation to keep this work going. The war in Iraq must end and it’s the work we do that will make that happen.” If you have any interest in any of this please try these links to find someone to help you get there.
