In a speech in Portsmouth New Hampshire John McCain officially announced he is running for president in 08. “I know how the world works; I know the good and evil in it,” said McCain. “I know how to fight and I know how to make peace. I know who I am and what I want to do.” For the complete text of his announcement speech, click here. McCain has also been on a few TV shows talking about his run for 08. On Tuesday McCain was on The John Stewart show, and he offered Stewart an IED to place under his desk. This irritated Rep. John Murtha, who complained about it on the House floor, “Imagine a presidential candidate making a joke about IEDs when our kids are getting blown up,” he said. The next morning McCain was on Good Morning America explaining, “I don’t know how to react to that kind of hysteria to a comedy show,” he told Diane Sawyer, “All I’m going to say to Murtha and others. … Lighten up and get a life.”
