GOP Weekly Address 3/3/2012

From the GOP; “In this week’s address, Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee Doc Hastings (R-WA) discusses how the president is unwilling to work toward energy independence in our nation. Gas prices are on the rise again, and our current administration has given no impression that they’re serious about lowering our energy costs and creating much-needed jobs. House Republicans are working to open domestic energy production and ease the burden on small businesses so they can grow and hire again.” Hastings explains high gas prices saying, “Americans are right to worry that no relief is in sight. The president, who campaigned on a promise to address rising gas prices, now talks as if they’re largely beyond his control. This week, when the president’s Energy Secretary was asked whether the administration’s goal is to lower gas prices, the secretary’s answer was ‘no.’ Incredibly, one Democrat leader in the Senate actually suggested we push Saudi Arabia to produce more oil, thereby increasing our dependence on the Middle East.” He sums up Obama by saying, “though the president now claims to support ‘all-of-the-above,’ he has consistently blocked American energy production, most recently by rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline. In addition to that, he has restricted drilling in offshore areas while encouraging other countries, including Brazil, to expand their own exploration. And while the president says oil production alone can’t solve our problems, his administration has proposed costly regulations that would hurt the supply of other domestic sources. Instead of placing his bet on American-made energy and the workers who produce it, President Obama has wasted taxpayer dollars on Solyndra and other unproven technologies.”

Virginia Senate Race Has Turned Into A Cat And Dog Fight

In October Hank the cat declared himself a candidate for the Senate seat being vacated by Senator Jim Webb. Hank is a 9 year Maine Coon from Springfield, Virginia. He set up a Facebook page to promote himself, and even has a campaign ad out.

Hank may not be the first cat to run for political office, but I bet he is the first cat to have a Super PAC put out an ad against them. The Super PAC, Canines for a Feline Free Tomorrow have released an ad that states, “More facts, not fat cats.”

President Obama Says His Wall Street Buddies Don’t Get It

The Super PAC, America Future Fund, have a new campaign ad out that points out President Obama’s hypocrisy when it comes to Wall Street. Obama claims he wasn’t elected to help “fat cat bankers on Wall Street.” Yet he has accepted more campaign money from Wall Street than any candidate ever.

Democrats Set The Facts Straight On Obama And Israel

According to an ad from the DNC, “A group of Washington Republicans is running ads about President Obama’s support for Israel’s security that are flat-out untrue. They’re trying their hardest to insert politics where it doesn’t belong.” The email adds, “These GOP ads purposefully disregard the undeniable facts: President Obama has sent record levels of security aid to Israel. He has stood shoulder to shoulder with Israel to meet the nuclear threat from Iran. And Prime Minister Netanyahu praised President Obama, saying, ‘He rightly said that our security cooperation is unprecedented, and he has backed those words with deeds.’ You know as well as I do that our country’s commitment to our greatest ally is ironclad and stronger than ever. And it’s a bond that goes well beyond politics.”

Here is the Democratic video that sets the record straight;

It’s Time To Take The ‘Kill Romney’ Strategy To The Next Level

Mitt Romney squeaked out a win in Michigan despite being attacked from all sides. In his latest web ad he points out the disappointment from the Obama team that spent a lot of money to defeat Romney in the republican primary. According to an email to supporters, “Despite their best — and dirtiest — efforts, the Democrats’ “kill Romney” campaign was a bust last night. And while we celebrate Mitt’s victories, Obama’s team in Chicago is contemplating what went wrong. But don’t think for a minute they are done.” Romney claims the democrats are afraid to face him in the general election saying, “after proving that they will say, spend, and do anything in Michigan to “kill Romney” and avoid facing Mitt in the general election, the Democrats are taking their dirty tactics to Super Tuesday states ahead of next week’s vote. Why have they resorted to such desperation? Here’s your answer: nearly 24 million Americans struggling for work, 2.8 million foreclosed homes, and $15 trillion in national debt.”

Rick Santorum The Angry Weatherman

Rick Santorum has sent out an email to supporters asking for more money for Super Tuesday. The email states, “It’s hard to be an underdog. Let me tell you, it’s much more difficult to run a grassroots, shoe-leather campaign where you actually talk to voters, than to throw millions of dollars on TV.
But now, with 10 states voting in the next week, we need those millions.”
Then they show a picture of Santorum standing in front of the map of the United States striking a mean pose. “In Oklahoma they had hail as big as my fist.”

Mitt Romney Loved Earmarks In 2002

Rick Santorum is pushing a new ABC video that shows Mitt Romney in 2002 saying earmarks are a good thing. According to Santorum, “Mitt Romney was exposed as not only the king of hypocrisy, but an expert at playing the Washington insiders game. Romney has been saying he opposes federal earmarks, but the video shows the Romney he never wanted you to see. Romney says; “I want to go after every grant, every project, every department in Washington.”
