Ron Paul Wins Presidential Idol While Duncan Hunter Gets Voted Off

Another month is gone, and another candidate has been voted off of Presidential Idol. Ron Paul received the most votes for the month of September and came in first with 46%. This is the sixth straight month that Ron Paul has won in the vote count. Coming in second with 9.9% of the vote was Mike Huckabee. Hillary Clinton and Chuck Hagel tied for third with 9.6%. The candidate that gets voted off this month was Duncan Hunter with 1.2% of the vote. Hunter is a Republican member of the House representing the San Diego area. In 1994 he helped build a fence along the border with Mexico in his district which is the basis for his idea of a fence along the whole U.S. Mexican border. His fence idea wasn’t enough to impress the voters on Presidential Idol. All the candidates on Presidential Idol are starting from zero again, so we can vote another candidate off at the end of October. We are down to 14 candidates, and November 2008 we will pick from that group the first Presidential Idol. You can vote once a day for any candidate on the list. The one with the least votes on October 31 is voted off, and we start again with 13. So come by and vote for your favorite candidate at Presidential Idol. It’s free and it’s fun. Thanks.

They’re looking for leadership. A leader with the judgment and experience to keep us safe. The courage to change Washington….. New Hampshire, you know who he is.” Then you hear McCain say, “Live free or die.”

President Bill Clinton Speaks Out On The MoveOn Ad

President Bill Clinton was on Anderson Cooper and he said the Republican’s outrage over the MoveOn ad about General Petraeus was “disingenuous.” “This was classic bait and switch, focus on that as opposed to focusing on what’s happened,” Bill Clinton said. He used campaign ads that targeted Democrats in the past as an example. “These are the people that ran a television ad in Georgia with Max Cleland, who lost half his body in Vietnam, in the same ad with Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. That’s what the Republicans did,” he continued. “And the person that rode to the senate on that ad was there voting to condemn the Democrats over the Petraeus ad.” “I mean, these are the people that funded the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. And the president appointed one of the principal founders of the Swift Boat ads to be an ambassador,” Clinton added. “But they’re really upset about Petraeus. But it was okay to question John Kerry’s patriotism on a blatantly dishonest play that had dishonest claims by people that didn’t know what they were talking about.” I guess it is easier to condemn than to do something productive. The Republicans are being a bit hypocritical on this one, and it is starting to show.

Joe Biden’s Plan For Iraq Sails Through The Senate

The Senate voted 75-23 today to pass Joe Biden’s amendment that he says will “bring an end to the civil war in Iraq and get our troops out safely.” His plan calls for a Federal system in Iraq divided along ethnic lines. It allows for regional autonomy within the Federal system which will be divided into three parts. Each part will be governed locally by its dominant ethnic and religious factions, the Shiites, Sunnis, and Kurds. It calls for the support of the U.N. and Iraq’s neighbors to help sort this mess out. Biden spoke for over an hour on the Senate floor last week trying to drum up support for his amendment. Republican candidate Sam Brownback was a co-sponsor of the amendment. The Biden-Brownback amendment also calls for the launch of a major international diplomatic push in the Middle East by the White House. Hillary Clinton and Christopher Dodd voted for the measure. John McCain and Barack Obama did not vote. The amendment is non-binding on Iraq so it has more political worth than practical worth, but it does offer a different vision of the war in Iraq than from the one offered by the Bush administration.

The Democrats Debate While The Republicans Are To Busy

The Democrats will debate tonight at at Dartmouth College, and the Republicans are scheduled to debate tomorrow night at Morgan State University in Baltimore. Eight of the Democrats are scheduled to appear at their forum, and it will be moderated by NBC’s Tim Russert. The Republican front runners have decided against attending their debate which is at a historically black college. They all have said they have scheduling issues. This is a bad excuse since they all already used it for a Spanish-language debate aimed at Hispanics that had to be canceled last month because only John McCain would commit. So far the top four candidates Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, John McCain and Fred Thompson all cited scheduling conflicts in skipping the event. Tom Tancredo backed out of the debate after it was learned that recently declared Republican candidate Alan Keyes would attend. If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen. “I am puzzled by their decision. I think it’s a mistake and I wish they would change their minds,” Newt Gringrich said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” The Democrats have already attended a similar forum in Washington D.C. in June. The debates will be moderated by PBS host Tavis Smiley, and will be aired on PBS. The producer of the debate plans on having five empty podiums to represent the no shows, and it will likely be brought up. The black vote traditionally goes to the Democrats, but Republicans had been making some gains. Not showing up will set back all those gains in one quick stroke.

Bill Richardson Has A Better Choice On Iraq

Bill Richardson and his crew just finished a video and he wants all Democrats to see it. The four minute video illustrates Richardson’s policy with regard to Iraq, and why his plan is different from everybody else’s plan. According to a letter Richardson sent to supporters, “If you truly support ending the war and bringing home all our troops, Bill Richardson is your only choice.” And if Richardson wins, “America will win. Because we will finally be able to move beyond George Bush’s disaster in Iraq in a way that strengthens our nation, stabilizes the region, and restores our moral leadership in the world.”

Rudy Giuliani Party Asking For $9.11 Donations

Abraham Sofaer, a supporter for Rudy Giuliani, is throwing a party to help raise funds for Giuliani in his Palo Alto home. According to the invitation, “$9.11 for Rudy” is an “independent, non-denominational grass-roots campaign to raise $10,000 in small increments to show how many individual, everyday Americans support ‘America’s Mayor.'” The party may be at his house, but Sofaer says he did not come up with the $9.11 theme. He claims some young people came up with it. I guess Sofaer just liked the idea and ran with it. According to a Giuliani spokesperson, “These are two volunteers who acted independently of and without the knowledge of the campaign. Their decision to ask individuals for that amount was an unfortunate choice.” Nothing like a good tragic event to exploit for political gain. Truthfully Giuliani’s actions before, during, and after 9/11 are nothing to brag about, and it is disgusting the way he has used 9/11 in his campaign.

President Bush Is Using A Page Out Of Karl Rowe’s Playbook

President Bush is playing political prognosticator and saying in an interview Hillary Clinton will win the Democratic nomination. “She’s got a national presence, and this is becoming a national primary,” Bush said in the interview. “And therefore the person with the national presence, who has got the ability to raise enough money to sustain an effort in a multiplicity of sites, has got a good chance to be nominated.” But he is not worried because he feels a Republican will win the big prize. “I think our candidate can beat her, but it’s going to be a tough race,” he said. “I will work to see to it that a Republican wins and therefore don’t accept the premise that a Democrat will win. I truly think the Republicans will hold the White House.” This is straight out of Karl Rowe’s political play book. They feel that Clinton is so divisive that she will rally the Republican troops in to vote against her. This says a lot about the Republican party. They can not get excited enough about one of their own candidates, and only will vote in the negative. This plan may have worked with John Kerry, but I doubt they have that much influence on how Democrats vote. Bush says he will help the Republican candidate win, but some say he should just step aside, or even hide. Donald Trump told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, “I think President Bush has to go into a corner and hide if a Republican is going to get elected. There is no way he is an asset. He is a huge liability, and he is going to have to do a big, big hiding act if a Republican is going to win.” Trump also said he believes Bush might be the worst President ever saying, “We’ve gone from this tremendous power that was respected all over the world to somewhat of a laughingstock.”

Barack Obama Wants You to Believe In Change

Barack Obama has released a new ad campaign asking voters to believe in their ability to bring about change in Washington. “Every time I speak about my hope for America, the cynics roll their eyes,” says Obama in the ad. They don’t believe in change. “In 20 years of public service, I’ve brought Democrats and Republicans together to solve problems that touch the lives of everyday people. I’ve taken on the drug and insurance companies and won,” Obama says into the camera. “I defied the politics of the moment and opposed the war in Iraq before it began,” Obama says. “This is Barack Obama. I approve this message to ask you to believe, not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington. I’m asking you to believe in yours.”
