Palin Proposes Bill That Obama Already Passed

Today Sarah Palin told a crowd how she had put Alaska’s “government checkbook online,” and now she wants to do the same with the federal government. “We’re going to do a few new things also,” Palin told a crowd in Iowa. “For instance, as Alaska’s governor, I put the government’s checkbook online so that people can see where their money’s going. We’ll bring that kind of transparency, that responsibility, and accountability back. We’re going to bring that back to D.C.” That is great idea, but it was already done by Barack Obama and Republican Senator Tom Coburn back in 2006. They worked together to pass the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act, also known as “Google for Government.” They created which gives all of us access to what our government is spending money on. John McCain was also an original sponsor on the 2006 bill that eventually became law.
