Hillary Clinton Brings Up Assassination

Hillary Clinton was giving an interview with South Dakota newspaper the Argus Leader and she mentioned assassination as a reason to stay in the race. She was arguing that campaigns often go on all the way into June. Clinton said “my husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June. We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.” Then she added, “You know I just don’t understand it.” She doesn’t understand why everyone wants her to quit, and even calls it “unprecedented.” The blogs have already picked this one up saying she is insinuating Obama might get assassinated. The New York Post called it, “an odd comparison between the dead candidate and Barack Obama.” The Obama camp even felt as if they needed to respond to her comment saying, “Senator Clinton’s statement before the Argus Leader editorial board was unfortunate and has no place in this campaign.” Just like last week when a statement was made by President Bush that didn’t include Obama’s name. They just assumed it must be about Obama. I guess the world does turn around Barack Obama, and he is the cure all for all our ills. With all the blog noise Clinton felt she needed to apologize for the statement. At a later event she said, “earlier today, I was discussing the Democratic primary history and in the course of that discussion mentioned the campaigns that both my husband and Sen. Kennedy waged in California in June in 1992 and 1968, and I was referencing those to make the point that we have had nominating primary contests that go into June. That’s an historic fact.” She explained, “The Kennedys have been much on my mind in the last days because of Sen. [Edward] Kennedy, and I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and particularly for the Kennedy family was in any way offensive. I certainly had no intention of that whatsoever.”

McCain Claims Obama Knows Less Than Zero About Military Affairs

John McCain and Barack Obama exchanged some shots over a G.I. Bill introduced to the Senate. The bill was sponsored by Virginia Democratic Sen. James Webb and Nebraska Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel, both military veterans, and it would expand educational benefits for military veterans. McCain opposes the bill, because he is a cosponsor of a different version of the bill that would require soldiers to have more time in the service to get full benefits and to encourage them to stay in the military as a career. The first version awards benefits after only three years of service and some feel it is to generous encouraging veterans to leave the service early. Obama and Hillary Clinton support the first version and attended the voting. Obama used his time on the Senate floor to take a shot at McCain. “I can’t understand why he (McCain) would line up behind the president in opposition to this GI Bill. I can’t believe why he believes it is too generous to our veterans. I could not disagree with him and the president more on this issue.” Obama said. “There are many issues that lend themselves to partisan posturing, but giving our veterans the chance to go to college should not be one of them.” McCain quickly responded in a statement from the campaign. “I will not accept from Senator Obama, who did not feel it was his responsibility to serve our country in uniform, any lectures on my regard for those who did,” McCain said. “Perhaps, if Senator Obama would take the time and trouble to understand this issue he would learn to debate an honest disagreement respectfully. But, as he always does, he prefers impugning the motives of his opponent, and exploiting a thoughtful difference of opinion to advance his own ambitions. If that is how he would behave as president, the country would regret his election.” Then McCain added, “It is typical, but no less offensive, that Senator Obama uses the Senate floor to take cheap shots at an opponent and easy advantage of an issue he has less than zero understanding of.” Then Obama’s camp responded to McCain’s response with a statement. “These endless diatribes and schoolyard taunts from the McCain campaign do nothing to advance the debate about what matters to the American people,” according to the statement released by the Obama campaign.

Hillary Clinton Supporters Planning Protest In D.C.

A group of Hillary Clinton supporters are planning on going to Washington D.C. to protest during the Democratic National Rules Committee meeting on May 31st. The DNC will finally decide what to do about Michigan and Florida during this meeting. The Committee to Count Every Vote is planning an all day rally May 31st. According to the groups web site, “the DNC Rules Committee is meeting that day to make a determination with respect to MI and FL and we think it is essential to convene in Washington to support our cherished democratic principles, help enfranchise MI and FL and to show that Hillary has equally high numbers of passionate, devoted supporters who believe fervently that she will be the better general candidate and best president.” The group is not officially affiliated with the Clinton campaign, but Clinton does support their efforts. “I thank you for zeroing in on the May 31 meeting. There will be a lot of activity around that meeting,” Clinton said adding its “important your voices are heard.”

Union Member Has Questions For Obama

Barack Obama made his stop in Tampa, Florida, and once again he used a non-union labor force to set up his show. He has gained a lot of support from labor unions with many officially endorsing him, but when it comes time to use one his team chooses the cheapest route out. On December 9, 2007 he appeared at a non-union venue, the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. with Opera Winfrey. Local 195 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) have been trying to organize this venue for over 6 years and they informed the Obama team of this hoping they would change venues. The Obama camp said no since it was the only venue big enough to hold his show. Then the local planned on picketing the venue, but the Obama team made an 11th hour deal with the union. He later broke the deal he made with union, especially after the union endorsed Hillary Clinton on December 10th. According to a release from the IATSE, “When Oprah Winfrey campaigned for Obama in New Hampshire in early December, it was decided to hold the event at a non-union venue. Local 195 contacted the campaign and requested they move to a union site. The campaign refused. When IATSE threatened an informational picket line at the event, Obama promised to make pro-union statements at the rally and to use union labor for future events. The picket was then canceled. Obama did make a pro-union statement at that event, and the campaign promised that they would use union venues in the future….Then on Dec. 10, 2007, the IA endorsed Hillary Clinton for President. While campaigning in Iowa, the Obama camp asked IA locals for one union employee per event, but used additional nonunion labor at each one. Stage technicians set up stages, hang backdrops and run technical equipment needed for many of the campaign rallies and speeches that are broadcast frequently.” It looks like Obama is still stiffing the IATSE in his events as is evidence by this letter from a Tampa union member.

Re: Disappointment in Tampa Florida on May 21, 2008

To whom it may concern,

I write this letter in disbelief and confusion.

Let me first explain that I am a proud card carrying member of the united labor force known as the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees Local 321. I have a wife who works full time and two young children. Being a part of a Labor Organization has played a big part in helping my family maintain our middle class economic stability. Through my United Labor forces negotiations I have been able to provide insurance for my children as well as have money placed into an annuity account so I will not be forced to rely on Social Security as I grow old.

Originally I had thought this type of economic security was one of the platform issues Senator Obama supported. I regret to learn that his actions speak to me that this issue is not part of his platform at all.

On Wednesday, May 21, 2008, Senator Obama gave a speech at the St Pete Times Form in Downtown Tampa Florida. About a week prior to this rally a member of Obama’s campaign had contacted my Unions office with interest in using our United Labor force. We have experience in this type of work. We have contracts with 4 theaters and work on these types of shows regularly. It is our craft and we are a proud group of middle class people.

It saddens me to learn that my Business Agents messages to Obama’s campaign people after their initial inquiry call were never returned. Instead my Union’s efforts to work with Obama’s campaign were ignored at a time when my brothers and sisters of IATSE Local 321 were in need of a job.

It is sad to say that there are at least 20 of my fraternal brothers and sisters who will be put in the position to collect unemployment this week due to lack of work. Their need for this government help could have easily been avoided with the money raised in working for Senator Obama’s campaign in Tampa Florida. Instead of employing my faithful brothers and sisters Obama’s campaign chose to use a labor force that is not united and does not pay any benefits to its workers.

I have many deep regrets in writing this letter.

Sincerely looking to dedicate my loyalty,

David Jones

This is what happens when you don’t join the Obama train. They just leave you behind. I thought he was running for all of us, not just his Obama fans. I bet he uses union Culinary workers while in Nevada. Just ask the state of Florida. If you don’t vote for him, you don’t count in his world.

Obama Looking For Endorsement In Florida

Barack Obama will be in Tampa, Florida one day after Hillary Clinton beats him up in the Kentucky primary. Many are hoping he will bring in another big endorsement like last weeks John Edwards to deflate Hillary’s big win. Al Gore is the last big endorsement left. That would be perfect. The Democratic nominee, who lost the Presidency in 2000 because of disenfranchised Florida voters, endorsing the Democratic nominee who disenfranchised them in 2008. It won’t be happening though since today in Israel at a technology conference Gore said, “I have not made an endorsement and I will not do so today.” Then Gore added, “I have not decided whether or when I will.” There are some that are planning on attending the Obama rally at the St. Pete Times Forum on Wednesday and turning their backs toward him. This is their way of protesting the way Obama has treated the state up until now. Hillary Clinton will also be visiting the state later this week.

Obama Tells Tenn GOP To Lay Off

Barack Obama and his wife Michelle were on ABC’s Good Morning America, and he told the Tennessee’s Republican party to “Lay off my wife.” He was responding to a question about a video the Tennessee GOP were running on the internet last week. The video plays on the comment she made campaigning in Wisconsin last February when she said, “For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country.” It was a pretty easy comment to attack. “The GOP, should I be the nominee, can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record,” Obama said on GMA. “If they think that they’re going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful because that I find unacceptable, the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family.” “Whoever is in charge of the Tennessee GOP needs to think long and hard about the kind of campaign they want to run, and I think that’s true for everybody, Democrat or Republican,” he said. Then he added, “These folks should lay off my wife.” Or else what? Obama claims Michelle “loves this country. For them to try to distort or to play snippets of her remarks in ways that are unflattering to her is, I think, just low class. I think that most of the American people would think that as well.” I wonder what most of the American people would think about her thesis project from college? This is just like the Rev. Wright stuff. The snippets say enough to get the whole picture from the person. There was no distortion is what the Tennessee GOP said. It was a quote directly from Michelle Obama. This isn’t the first time the Tennessee GOP has gotten slack for it’s treatment of Obama. Last March they were criticized for using his middle name “Hussein”. If Obama doesn’t want Michelle’s statement to become fodder for the news he should send her back to Illinois. Or he could tell her to lay off of the negative comments about our country. As long as she is speaking on his behalf, she should be fair game. There sure was no slack shown for Bill Clinton while Obama and his surrogates called him a racist. The first black president a racist? That really was a stretch, but they got away with it, and it hurt Hillary’s chances after South Carolina. That’s the kind of campaign Obama has run, so he better get used to it when it comes back at him. When you sling shit into a fan some of it comes back and hits you. Call it change or whatever you want, it is still the game of dirty politics, and that is how you get to the White House. Not with clean white gloves on.

Obama Waves The Flag Of Surrender

While Barack Obama spent some time in Michigan, the Kent County GOP (Grand Rapids, Michigan), released a new video ad that claims Obama will surrender the United States. The ad has a picture of old Glory blowing in the wind with a fife a drum in the background. As the narrator speaks the flag slowly changes to the flag of surrender. The narrator says, “Barack Obama believes that those of us from small towns in the Midwest… get bitter and cling to guns and religion… He will compromise America’s strength, mission and integrity.” Then he concludes as the flag goes white that the Hamas, “leadership is so excited about the prospect of Barack Obama becoming President that they have openly endorsed him and complimented his new vision for America.” They did this while Obama has decided to wear his flag pin again. Next thing you know they will show that video of Obama not saluting the flag during the national anthem while everyone else on the stage was.

Barack Obama Losing His Bearings

While speaking before a group in Beaverton, Oregon Barack Obama added 10 more states to the USA. “It is wonderful to be back in Oregon,” Obama said. “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it.” In the Democratic world there are only 48 states, so that’s not what he was confused about. It could be he was hanging out with John Kerry just before the speech and enjoying some Heinze 57 sauce on his food. Maybe uhh, he has uhhh, a uhh, uhhh, hard time speaking uhhhh with uhh out the uhhhmmm teleprompter, just like George Bush. Clearly that alone makes him qualified to be President. It’s a good thing that Hawaii and Alaska have already voted since his staff doesn’t seem to think to much about them. I think because of the long campaign he just might be losing his bearings.
