The Gathering of Eagles Claim Victory Over The Hippies

The right wingers are claiming victory this past weekend since the Vietnam Veterans memorial was not vandalized. They are claiming that as many as 30,000 thousand supporters of the Iraq war and George Bush attended. Human events claimed the pro-war folks outnumbered the anti-war folks by a 3 to 1 margin. These are surprising figures since about 60 to 70%of America is against this war, but somehow the spinsters have the Great Americans over the communist hippie peaceniks. These are many of the same people that tells us that the troop surge is working, or as Defense Secretary Robert Gates said, “sofar, so good.” And they claim the main stream press is slanted. I would call them a gathering of seagulls instead, since they pick up garbage and make some good stuff out of it. Here are some pictures of the peace rally last weekend in Washington D.C.

Someone needs to bless Bush, How about God bless out Troops and get them out of this civil war in Iraq.

They can claim victory, none of those hippies touched that wall!!

Damn Liberals, if we didn’t have them we wouldn’t have this damn war. We could have killed all the terrorist in the first week, but we couldn’t because of those liberals helping out the enemy with their support.

Someone tell these guys that Kerry dropped out. He is no longer a threat, we need anti-Hillary stuff.. Hillary and Hanoi Jane would be better.

Cindy Shehann is the real threat, her and all those pink ladies. Why is the lady in the middle dressed like a terrorist about to participate in a hanging?

Yea!! That’s it, just go to hell you lovers of peace and harmony, just go to Hell. Anti-war means communist, traitor, imperialist Islam lover.

John Edwards Wants to Cut Greenhouse Gas and Hillary’s Lead By 80%

John Edwards was in Nevada, Iowa today at the Biomass Energy Conversion Center where he gave details of his energy policies. He said that global warming, “is not a threat about the future. This is a crisis today.” Edwards is calling to cap greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by the year 2050, he wants to draft a new global warming treaty, eliminate 3 billion dollars of the subsidies given to oil companies, increase automotive fuel efficiency, and is calling for 25% of the nations electricity to be produced form renewable sources among other things. Edwards says these moves will help America grow economically as well, “Energy not only cannot be a hindrance to the American economy, it can be the fuel for the American economy.” He also says his plan could put a halt to global warming, saying, “Our generation must be the one that says yes to alternative, renewable fuels and ends forever our dependence on foreign oil. Our generation must be the one that accepts responsibility for conserving natural resources and demands the tools to do it.”
John Edwards would also like to put a halt of the lead in the polls held by other Democratic candidates right now. Even in his own state of South Carolina, where in 2004 he won and propelled himself towards the head of the pack, he is struggling. Edwards finds himself in a distant fourth in South Carolina polls these days, even behind Al Gore who isn’t even running. Voters are referring to Edwards as stale and are looking for fresh faces. What is so fresh about Hillary, she was around the White House for 8 years? If Edwards can’t even hold his own state it will be a kiss of death for his campaign. How about another vice presidential try John?

Four More Years! Only If We Don’t Speak Out VIDEOS

We are now entering the start of the fifth year of this war in Iraq. Protesters rallied all around the nation with the biggest march in Washington D.C. It wasn’t celebrity filled like the larger protest in Janurary. Among the speakers at the rally was Cynthia McKinney and Ramsey Clark. For a transcript of their speeches and a report of other protests check out this Democracy Now article. This time a group of pro-war protesters showed up because of a fear that the anti-war protesters where going to deface the Vietnam Wall with spray paint and urine-filled balloons. This stuff was started mostly by a group called Gathering of Eagles. Check out this video by them with Hot Air’s Michelle Malkin,

The Anti-war protests was sponsored by peace group ANSWER. They were met at times with signs saying “Peace Sucks” and “Go To Hell Traitors.” At the Vietnam Wall Veterans spent the frigid night guarding it, with one, Tim Hill, an ex-Marine with two tours in Iraq yelling through a megaphone, “Your march is based on lies, and all of you are terrorists.” Fox News reported this morning that the pro-war groups actually outnumbered the anti-war groups, but their own web sight doesn’t even back that one up. The numbers were in the tens of thousands for the anti-war groups in the Washington D.C. area, and this protest seemed to have a more angrier tone than last January’s. On Friday before the protest a group of Christians marched to the White House after prayers at the Washington National Cathedral. While at the White House sidewalk 222 of them where arrested for not obeying the keep on moving laws that apply to the sidewalks around the White House. So you can’t even pray for peace in front of the White House. It is also worth noting that the U.S. was not the only place to have protest marking the fourth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. Madrid, Spain had some of the largest protest in Europe with about 100,000 people marching against the war in Iraq. All across Europe, Australia, South America and Canada other smaller gatherings where reported all protesting the fourth anniversary of the war in Iraq. Here is a couple of videos of the March in D.C. The first video is a collage of the protest showing both sides. The second is speeches with Iraq War Veterans speaking out. These videos where brought to us by youtube user Mufonix, who also has some more coverage of the D.C. protests. Enjoy, and Peace.

What a Fox News Debate Would Be Like by The Simpsons

I am not sure how long this one will be up, but it is a Simpson’s take on what the Fox News Democratic debate might have been like.

Bill Richardson to Sign Bill Making Medical Marijuana Legal in New Mexico

The second time around the New Mexico state lawmakers passed a medical-marijuana bill, after only two hours of debate. Governor Bill Richardson is a strong supporter of the bill and is expected to sign it, making New Mexico the 12th state with medical marijuana laws. Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington have legalized marijuana for medical uses, according to a fiscal-impact report on the bill. Richardson had this to say about the bill, “I am pleased that the Legislature did the right thing, reconsidered this important bill and supported a humane option for New Mexicans who endure some of the most painful diseases imaginable.” Under the bill, the department would be required to create a system for distributing medical marijuana to patients by Oct. 1. The agency would issue identification cards to eligible patients and caregivers. The department also would license producers to grow the marijuana. Richardson has been behind this type of bill for some time, and he doesn’t see it as much of a issue, “I don’t see it as being a big issue,” Richardson said. “This is for medicinal purpose, for … people that are suffering. My God, let’s be reasonable.” Richardson also said the White House has tried to get him to not sign the bill.
In a related story, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against Angel Raich, a lady in California who sued the federal government pre-emptively to avoid being arrested for using the drug marijuana. The drug was prescribed to help her with pain and to increase her appetite during her cancer treatment. In 2002 the Supreme Court ruled against her but left some things open for an appeals court to decide. Although sympathetic for her situation the appeals court decided against Raich. Her doctor has said it is a matter of life or death in her case. The appeals court ruled in a way that if arrested she might be able to argue that she possessed marijuana as a last resort to stay alive, in what is known as a ”medical necessity defense.” In other words she has to get arrested, or as Raich said, ”I have to get myself busted in order to try to save my life.” These are the people Bill Richardson is trying to help when he signs the New Mexico bill. It only makes sense. Kudos’s and scoobie snacks to Richardson.

Hillary Fires Up The Firefighters and Hot Videos of The Others

11 of the candidates, both Republican and Democratic spoke before a forum sponsored by the International Association of Fire Fighters, IAFF on Wednesday. Notably absent was Rudy Giuliani who has some problems with the IAFF right now. Also absent was Mitt Romney. Hillary Clinton drew the most applause at the 7 hour meeting, but there was excitement for Barack Obama as well. Hillary did better because she focused on the needs of union members where Obama instead spent to much time on the Iraq war. The rank and file membership is evenly divided between the parties with 42% calling themselves Republican, and 40% calling themselves Democrat. Normally Union membership mean Democratic support, but with such an even divide Republicans have a good chance with the IAFF. In the last election the IAFF supported George Bush.

Here follows are the main themes and issues presented by each attending candidate with video clips of each of their speeches.
John Edwards spoke about his union support, “I think you guys are heroes and you deserve people who will stand with you and walk the lines with you.” He also spoke about health care, “We should have health care for every single man, woman and child in America.” To see John Edwards speech at the IAFF, click here.
Jim Gilmore spoke about watching 9/11 on TV, and that his father was a member of amalgamated meat cutters union for a long time. For the firefighters he said, “When I’m president, the radios are going to work.” He spoke about his support for Bush’s policies on the Iraq war. To see Jim Gilmore’s speech at the IAFF click here.
Barack Obama spoke about his support for veterans and first responders, “Sometimes Washington forgets,” he said. “They praise your work. They cheer you on when you race up the stairs. But when it’s time for you to get health care or buy the radios and equipment you need, those supporters disappear like a puff of smoke.” He called for a pull out of the troops by March 2008 which drew strong applause. He saved some criticism for those who, “give long speeches about valor and sacrifice. … But when it comes time to send our troops into battle with the proper equipment and ensure that veterans have what they need when they get home, they don’t do anything except slap a yellow ribbon the back of their SUV.” To see Bacack Obama’s speech at the IAFF click here.
Duncan Hunter spoke about his support for the troops, “We’re trying to expand freedom in a tough part of the world.” And his policies with firefighters would be hands off, “Our motto is that when it comes to supporting firefighters, the best politics is no politics.” To see Duncan Hunter’s speech at IAFF click here.
Hillary Clinton was the hit of the party and joked with the firefighters about a cocktail party held the night before, “Thanks so much and thanks for last night, too,” she said, bringing laughs and “whoas!” from the firefighters. She supports the firefighters rights to organize, “When you plunge headfirst into burning buildings for a living, you have more than earned the right to organize for better conditions on the job.” Hillary focused on the needs of the firefighters instead of the war which seemed to be the theme of most the other speeches. She attacked Bush policies concerning unions, “The days of George Bush thinking the union bug is something he needs to squash are over.” To see Hillary Clinton speech at IAFF click here.
John McCain spoke about his support for Bush’s policies in Iraq and the failure of the government to equip first responders, “This is intolerable,” he said. “All you ask is for the means to do your job successfully, so that the sacrifices you make on our behalf are not in vain. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.” McCain spoke about Iraq but drew little positive response from the crowd then. To see John McCain’s speech at IAFF, click here.
Chuck Hagel said that 9/11, “did remind us of who really serves this country.” Other than that he really had no specifics. To see Chuck Hagel at IAFF click here.
Chris Dodd talked about his support for unions, “Working people in this country are feeling the pressure like never, ever before.” He also supports our troops. Dodd spoke in the third person like Bob Dole does. To see Chris Dodd speech at IAFF click here.
Sam Brownback talked about the tax code and brought a 3 foot stack of books to prove his point, and said the tax code “deserves to be taken behind a barn and killed with a dull ax.” To see Sam Brownback at IAFF click here.
Bill Richardson talked about his support of the unions and his support of gun owners rights, he said he was “pro-gun, pro-owners rights, pro-Second Amendment.” He also carried the pro fireman theme like everyone else. To see Bill Richardson’s speech at IAFF
And finally the last speaker was Joe Biden who spoke about his longtime support of unions. He also had personal stories about how firefighters had saved the lives of his own two sons. To see Joe Biden speech at IAFF click here.

Joe Biden Blasts Bush on Iraq and Launches An Online Petition To Pull Out

Joe Biden gave a speech before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee yesterday where he lambasted Bush’s policies in Iraq. Biden said that, “our troops don’t lose wars, bad polices, bad leadership loses wars.” He called on the Senate members to act;

“They should have the courage to stand up and tell the administration, they have had a God-awful policy, they have put our troops in a position that, in fact, has made it virtually impossible for them to succeed at the outset.

“They deserve a policy. They deserve a plan. There is no plan. We went to war with too few troops, we went to war unnecessarily. We went to war with these men and women ill-equipped, they’re coming home ill-served.

“It’s about time we have the courage to stand up and say to the president ‘Mr. President, you have not only put us in harm’s way you have harmed us! You have no policy, Mr. President’

“I’m so tired of hearing on this floor about courage. Have the courage to tell the administration, ‘stop this ridiculous policy you have.'”

He ended his speech with a plea to the President, “Mr. President, you’re leading us off a cliff. Stop!”
You can watch the whole speech at the end of this post.
Joe Biden has also launched an online petition to support legislation he co-sponsored with Carl Levin, D-Mich., to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq by March 2008.

Why Is Ronald Reagan Crying?

ronnie

Time Magazine’s current issue has a picture of Ronald Reagan crying on the front cover. The lead story is about the fall of the conservative empire. In the run up to the 2008 presidential race the Republicans have about a dozen candidates, but none that really excite the conservative wing. Richard A. Viguerie, author of ‘Conservatives Betrayed: How George W. Bush and Other Big Government Republicans Hijacked the Conservative Cause’, had this to say about the current batch of candidates, “It appears most of the GOP presidential candidates believed that, to get along, they had to go along with the Republican Establishment. While some of the candidates are better than others, none of them have interested, much less excited, even a significant minority of conservatives. It’s possible one of the existing candidates will catch fire with conservatives but not likely.” All of the candidates claim to be conservative, even Rudy Giuliani sometimes. A New York Times poll last Tuesday found that 60% of republicans are dissatisfied with the current crop of candidates, and as many as 40% expect the White House to be lost to the Democrats this time around. And many conservatives worry about what President Bush might do in his last couple of years to preserve a legacy of some sort. His only chance now would require him to reach across the aisles to the Democrats to get anything done. The conservatives already have problems with President Bush because of his liberal spending policies. The 2006 elections really split the Republican party between the real conservatives (Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo, and Duncan Hunter) and the candidates that are willing to move towards the left to get votes (Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, and Mitt Romney). Many feel the GOP is being taken over by the left, and if polls are any indication, the leading Republican candidates are all left according to conservatives. So the consensus at this time is if the Republicans want to win the White House in 08 they need to move to middle of the road, or support a real conservative candidate, but not both. They might be able to reunite the party to fight a common enemy like Hillary Clinton, but that is winning with a negative, not the best way to grow. It is still a long way to go, and there have been no real debates, so maybe the Republican star hasn’t fallen yet. I can’t see Rudy McRomney beating any of the superstars on the Democratic side right now. Real enthusiasm just isn’t strong enough yet and the Democrats have momentum on their side thanks to 6 years of screw-ups by the Bush administration.

Hillary Clinton Proposes Health Care Coverage For Every Child In America, and They’re Back

Hillary Clinton co-sponsored The Children’s Health First Act today, a bill aimed at providing health care for every child in America. The bill would provide incentives to states to expand the State Children’s Health Insurance Plan, SCHIP. A child in a family of three making 70,000 and under would be eligible with this bill. In a Hillcast video Hillary said, “With health care costs growing twice as fast as wages, it’s middle class families that now need a hand, and they sure haven’t gotten one from this administration,”….”A lot of parents are in such a bind because they cannot afford to get the health care that their children need and deserve.” When Hillary was the first lady she championed the cause for health care, but failed. She has also been talking about expanding SCHIP since becoming a Senator. This will also be part of her agenda as she pursues the presidency. John Edwards last week said he had a health care plan, and today in a speech before the firefighters Edwards said, “I’m proud of the fact that I’m the only candidate, at least until now, to have a specific, substantive [health care plan],” he said. “I hope the others will do the same.” Looks like Hillary is doing something.
Hillary is also in the news because of a speech in New Hampshire where she announced that the “right wing conspiracy” is back. She was referring to a case in New Hampshire where two republican operatives pleaded guilty to criminal charges because they were jamming the Democratic phone lines on election day 2002, hindering their get out the vote efforts. Hillary said, “So if anybody tells you there is no vast, right-wing conspiracy, tell them that New Hampshire has proven it in court,” The whole “right wing conspiracy” thing is a throw back to the days when Hillary was first lady and Bill was cheating on her with Monica. Hillary appeared on NBC’s Today show and dismissed the allegations against Bill as part a conspiracy, “The great story here for anybody willing to find it and write about it and explain it is this vast, right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president,”
Here is a video from Hillcast talking about the Children’s Health First Act.
